Ms. Le My Ai Linh, Deputy Director in charge of the House of Culture, Vietnam Journalists Association, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee said: "This year, with the support of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the Vietnam Journalists Association brought the Press Festival to the city named after Uncle Ho for the first time, with the desire to create favorable conditions for all levels of Journalists Association, press agencies and the press public in the South to enthusiastically participate, joining in the common joy of the festival of journalists".

Accordingly, the 2024 National Press Conference chaired by the Vietnam Journalists Association and organized by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee will take place in Ho Chi Minh City from March 15-17.

This year's National Press Festival opens at 8am on March 15 on Le Loi Street, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, and will be broadcast live on Vietnam Television, Voice of Vietnam, and Ho Chi Minh City People's Voice. The closing ceremony will take place at 8am on March 17, and will be broadcast live on Voice of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City Television, and Ho Chi Minh City People's Voice.

The National Press Forum will take place on March 15 and 16 at REX Hotel, 141 Nguyen Hue Street, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.

According to Ms. Linh, this event is the largest ever, with the participation of most central and local press agencies, and 63 Journalists Associations of provinces and cities, imbued with the pioneering and innovative spirit of Vietnamese journalism.

"The 2024 National Press Festival with the theme 'Vietnamese Press - Pioneering, Innovating for the Revolutionary Cause of the Party and People' will be a highlight of the professionalism and modernity of the press, clearly demonstrating the quality and scale of professional activities, exhibitions and displays, as well as unique cultural and artistic programs," emphasized the Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee.

This year's National Press Festival brings together more than 100 central and local press agencies, all levels of the Vietnam Journalists Association in 63 provinces and cities across the country with: 1 exhibition area on the history of Vietnamese journalism; 8 special exhibition booths of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Vietnam Television, Voice of Vietnam, Vietnam News Agency, Military Press Bloc, Public Security Press Bloc, Government Electronic Information Portal, National Assembly Office; 112 special press exhibition booths of newspapers and magazines from popular to specialized, covering all aspects of economic - political - cultural - social - defense - security - foreign affairs.

Notably, this year's Press Festival has the participation of 64 OCOP product booths from 50 provinces and centrally-run cities, demonstrating the attraction and role of media and press in promoting regional economy.

Speaking at the press conference, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Nguyen Duc Loi, Head of the Organizing Committee of the 2024 National Press Festival, said that along with the traditional exhibition and display, the 2024 Press Festival will for the first time organize a National Press Forum with large-scale professional activities, with the participation of more than 60 speakers who are experienced journalists, leaders of leading press agencies in Vietnam, and prestigious international media experts.

"The National Press Forum will be a high-quality professional activity with 10 discussion sessions on hot topics of interest to the press community such as: Enhancing Party spirit and orientation in press activities; Building a cultural press environment; Data journalism and outstanding content strategy; Investing and effectively applying technology in newsrooms; Competitiveness of television in the AI era; Investigative reporting - Journey to do useful things; Effective cooperation model between press, businesses and advertising agencies...", informed the Head of the Organizing Committee of the National Press Festival 2024.

In addition to press exhibitions and professional discussions, the 2024 Press Festival also brings to the public unique cultural and artistic programs, presents Spring press awards, and the Journalists & Public Opinion Cup football tournament.

Since 2016, when the Spring Press Festival, which takes place every five years, was renamed the National Press Festival by the Vietnam Journalists Association and organized annually, this activity has gradually become a cultural beauty of the press community every time Tet comes and spring returns.

This is an occasion to honor the great achievements of the Vietnamese press, promote attractive press products associated with the tireless work and creativity of journalists, and to enhance exchanges and meetings between journalists and the public, encourage the press to perform well its functions and tasks, meet the people's increasing demand for information, and contribute to enhancing the role, position and prestige of the Vietnam Journalists Association in social life.
