Attending the Congress were: Mr. Nguyen Phu - Head of the Ethnic Minorities Committee of An Giang province; leaders of agencies and units of the province and Tinh Bien town; and 150 delegates representing ethnic minority communities in the area.
According to the report at the Congress, in the period of 2019 - 2024, the implementation of ethnic work and ethnic policies in Tinh Bien Town has been focused on and achieved many positive results. The Town has achieved and exceeded 7/8 important targets of the last term.
Specifically, Tinh Bien now has 100% of car routes to the centers; 100% of communes and wards use the national grid. The poverty rate has decreased by over 2% each year, now only 2.5%. 13/14 commune health stations meet national standards; the rate of people participating in health insurance is quite high, of which over 98% of ethnic minorities have health insurance; the good traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities have been preserved and promoted by the Town, notably the rotation of the Bay Nui Bull Racing Festival, teaching pentatonic music, preserving the intangible culture of Kinh La Buong...
From 2019 to now, the essential infrastructure system of the Town has been increasingly invested and completed. In addition, the policies, projects with economic models supporting production being implemented in the area have promoted the economic development of ethnic minority households such as: Converting crop structure, expanding occupations, introducing jobs, supporting training, supporting loan sources, supporting housing... Thanks to that, the face of the countryside in the ethnic minority area in Tinh Bien Town has changed more and more clearly; many households have escaped poverty and risen to have a stable life. The security - political situation, social order and safety are ensured and border security is maintained.
Speaking at the Congress, Head of the Ethnic Minorities Committee of An Giang province Nguyen Phu acknowledged and commended the achievements and results that the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups of Tinh Bien town have achieved in the period of 2019 - 2024.
Mr. Nguyen Phu believes that, with the achievements and results, the attention, focused leadership and direction of the Party committees, authorities, organizations and the entire political system, promoting the tradition of solidarity, patriotism, self-reliance and self-improvement of the people, the ethnic work of the Town in the coming time will continue to achieve many achievements and results, contributing worthily to the implementation of the Town's political tasks.
With the theme "Ethnic groups unite, innovate, and create to promote advantages and potential for integration and sustainable development", delegates approved the direction and tasks of ethnic work for the period 2024 - 2029.
Accordingly, the People's Committee of Tinh Bien Town will strive to reduce the rate of poor ethnic minority households to less than 4%; the rate of trained workers to 50% or more; every year, all ethnic minority children of school age are able to go to school, no ethnic minority children drop out of school; maintain and improve the quality of communes and wards that meet national health standards; improve the quality of medical examination and treatment in ethnic minority areas; 97% of ethnic minorities participate in health insurance...
In the spirit of solidarity, the delegates also voted to elect 25 official delegates representing Tinh Bien Town to attend the 2024 Congress of Ethnic Minorities of An Giang Province.
