On the afternoon of June 22, at the National Assembly House, the Organizing Committee of the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians held the 2nd Meeting to evaluate and deploy the progress of preparations for the Conference.
Politburo member, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man, Head of the Conference Organizing Committee chaired the meeting.
Speaking at the meeting, National Assembly Permanent Vice Chairman Tran Thanh Man requested functional units to coordinate closely and regularly, "clearly define people, work, and responsibilities," and promote professionalism to contribute to the success of the Conference, creating an impression and spreading the message about the country and people of Vietnam.
Noting that the 9th Global Young Parliamentarians' Conference is an outstanding and central activity of the National Assembly in 2023, the Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly suggested that the organization of the conference is extremely important, ensuring both content, logistics, and absolute safety, leaving a good impression of the beautiful and peaceful Vietnam to international friends.
Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man welcomed the three Sub-committees and the National Secretariat for closely coordinating with relevant departments, ministries, branches and agencies to actively, proactively and urgently implement assigned tasks.
Up to now, the basic work has ensured progress according to plan; the subcommittees have promptly reported and asked for opinions from the Organizing Committee, the National Assembly Chairman and the National Assembly leaders on many important contents.
The National Assembly's Standing Vice Chairman said that there is not much time left until the conference, while the workload is still very large, requiring sub-committees, the Organizing Committee, and units to be extremely proactive, positive, highly responsible; and to regularly coordinate closely, practically, and effectively.

Emphasizing the importance of information and propaganda work, Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man requested the Information and Propaganda Subcommittee to coordinate and strengthen information dissemination about the Conference.
In addition, it is necessary to integrate messages about the country and people of Vietnam, choose appropriate activities to create impressions and influence, and pay more attention to international media and coordinate closely with the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) to effectively convey Vietnam's content and messages.
With the motto of “friendship, respect, thoughtfulness, safety and economy,” Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man suggested that it is necessary to thoroughly grasp the spirit of proactiveness and actively contribute substantially to the content of the conference, ensuring harmony of Vietnam’s interests with the common interests of the region and the world, demonstrating the position and role of the host country’s National Assembly, leaving a good impression on the delegates attending the conference.
Reporting on the preparations for the 9th Global Young Parliamentarians' Conference, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee Vu Hai Ha, Deputy Head of the Conference Organizing Committee, said that immediately after its establishment, the Organizing Committee established 3 subcommittees including the Content Subcommittee; the Reception-Logistics-Security-Healthcare Subcommittee; the Information-Propaganda Subcommittee and the National Secretariat under the Conference Organizing Committee.
The Conference Organizing Committee, sub-committees and the National Secretariat have proactively and actively implemented assigned tasks, basically ensuring the progress of the Conference organization plan.
According to Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee Vu Hai Ha, based on the proposal of the Content Subcommittee and the opinions of the organizing committee members, the Conference Organizing Committee submitted and received the consent of the National Assembly Chairman and the Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly on the topics of the thematic discussion sessions at the Conference.
The 9th Global Young Parliamentarians' Meeting will include four thematic discussions, including assessing progress in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals since the 2015 Hanoi Declaration and the growing importance of science, technology and innovation to accelerate progress towards economic, social and environmental goals; promoting digital transformation for a fair and resilient green economy; promoting innovation and entrepreneurship for a green, sustainable economy in the future; promoting respect for cultural diversity for sustainable development.
During the past time, the sub-committees and the National Secretariat have held meetings, assigned tasks to members and actively and proactively developed detailed projects and carried out assigned tasks.

Regarding the preparation work in the coming time, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee Vu Hai Ha said that the Organizing Committee will direct the Sub-committees to complete the construction of the host country's website; coordinate with the IPU Secretariat in registering delegates to attend the Conference; complete the Identity and logo of the Conference to discuss with the IPU Secretariat to include in the official documents, and at the same time approve the list, direct the National Secretariat to coordinate with the IPU Secretariat to send Invitations and general information to IPU member Parliaments, observer Parliaments, and guests of the host country...
At the meeting, members of the organizing committee and delegates focused on discussing preparations for the conference, including proposing to soon complete the conference's identity and website; innovate propaganda methods, promote information about the conference on social networking platforms to spread the conference to international friends, especially young people.
The ministries and branches also pledged to actively and closely coordinate with the Organizing Committee, sub-committees and the National Secretariat to deploy conference preparations./.
The Young Parliamentarians Forum was established within the framework of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in 2013. Since 2014, the Global Young Parliamentarians' Conference has been organized annually by the IPU, considered an important platform to empower young leaders. The aim of the Conference is to strengthen the role of young parliamentarians and youth participation in parliamentary activities and to make recommendations from the youth perspective on IPU activities and agenda; to build networks, solidarity and capacity building, and to broaden youth approaches to issues of common concern. The 9th Global Young Parliamentarians' Conference, hosted by the National Assembly of Vietnam, is a very important multilateral foreign affairs event and a highlight of 2023. The conference is scheduled to take place from September 14-18, 2023, in Hanoi with the theme: "The role of youth in promoting the implementation of sustainable development goals through digital transformation and innovation," including 3 topics: Digital transformation; Entrepreneurship and Innovation; Cultural and Human Values in Sustainable Development. On April 13, the 9th Global Young Parliamentarians' Conference Organizing Committee, consisting of 23 members, headed by Politburo member and Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man, was established under Resolution No. 766/NQ-UBTVQH15 dated April 12, 2023 of the National Assembly Standing Committee. |
