According to Fox News , 2024 Halloween costume trends are inspired by pop culture moments of the year and blockbuster movies that have hit theaters.

Top Halloween costumes in 2024

Spirit Halloween's "Top Costume Trends of 2024" report says movies are a major source of inspiration for holiday-goers this season.

Blockbusters like Deadpool & Wolverine are full of inspiration, from the main characters to the fresh take on "Lady Deadpool."

Google Trends ranked "Lady Deadpool" at number 10 on its list of trending costumes, noting that the "Lady Deadpool" costume became a trending search the day after Deadpool & Wolverine's release in US theaters.

Halloween is a holiday celebrated on October 31 every year. The tradition originated from the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people lit fires and dressed in costumes to ward off evil spirits. In the 8th century, Pope Gregory III designated November 1 as a day to honor all saints. Gradually, All Saints' Day adopted some of the customs of Samhain. The evening before was called All Hallows' Eve and later became Halloween. Over time, Halloween evolved into a holiday with activities such as trick-or-treating, carving jack-o'-lanterns, gatherings, dressing up, and eating candy.

The sequel to the comedy- horror film Beetlejuice has also climbed the charts, becoming one of the most creative and outstanding Halloween costumes that people will be wearing this year.

According to data from Google Trends, the number one costume is "shrunken head bob". It is the most searched keyword of all time. Other characters from the movie including Dolores, Lydia Deetz and Delia Deetz also ranked high in the Google search list.

Both Spirit Halloween and Google Trends referenced the emotions in the movie Inside Out , with Envy (6th), Anger (12th), Disgust (13th), Anxiety (15th), and Joy (21st) all making the Google Trends charts.

Many pop culture moments are also influencing 2024 clothing trends, from the Olympics to breakout music stars.

Rachel Gunn, known as Raygun, represented Australia at the Paris Olympics and is currently the number 2 ranked outfit, according to Google Trends.

Pop singer Sabrina Carpenter also made it into the top 10 trending outfits on Google, with people searching for "heart-shaped corset" based on the Short n' Sweet singer's performance outfit.
