Fun experience at affordable prices
Since the end of August, many Vietnamese travel and tourism service businesses have launched tours to hunt for yellow and red leaves, focusing on three main markets: China, Korea and Japan. The common point of these tours is affordable prices, only from 10-20 million VND/person for a trip of about 4-6 days.
Tourist Bao Tram, residing in Hanoi , said that last year, she had the opportunity to visit Seoul (South Korea) with her company and was overwhelmed by the autumn scenery there. This urged Bao Tram to return to the land of kimchi this year.
By booking a package tour, she hopes to have moments of relaxation and enjoy the autumn in Korea with her family. "I came to Korea to see the autumn leaves on Nami Island and Seorak Mountain. The scenery here is so beautiful that it makes me feel like I'm lost in a Korean movie," said Bao Tram.
Returning from a 6-day, 5-night trip to explore Japan's autumn, tourist Quoc Duy, residing in Hanoi, expressed his impression: "Going to Kyoto in the autumn is really worth the money." Duy said that he had previously traveled independently, but this time, trying a tour made his journey to explore Japan much easier and more convenient. The cost of the package tour was even more affordable than the previous independent trip because the travel agency bought the plane tickets and booked hotels for the group.
Besides Korea and Japan, many Vietnamese tourists choose to enjoy autumn in China. Accordingly, routes such as: Beijing-Shanghai-Hangzhou, Jiuzhaigou-Chengdu and Zhangjiajie-Phoenix Ancient Town... are booked the most by tourists.
Sharing about her journey to explore China's autumn, tourist Minh Anh, residing in Hanoi, said: "I went to Jiuzhaigou right when the primeval forest changed color, the scenery here is as beautiful as in countries with temperate climates. In addition, visa procedures are easy and quick, the cost is quite 'reasonable' from about 10-16 million VND for the whole tour."
According to a survey of domestic tourism and travel service businesses, the Chinese market is popular due to its accessible costs (from 12-20 million VND per person), and the visa procedures are also very convenient. Tourists can choose to explore many landscapes from Beijing, Shanghai to Jiuzhaigou, Zhangjiajie.
Meanwhile, the autumn scenery of Korea attracts young tourists who love photography and shopping. The cost to explore Korea ranges from 15-22 million VND per person for the whole trip.
Japanese tourism products are more expensive, ranging from 20-25 million VND per person. However, many people still choose this place to welcome autumn because they love the scenery of the ancient capital Kyoto or Mount Fuji in the red leaf season.
The fall foliage scenery in these countries has a special attraction for Vietnamese tourists as it brings special visual experiences, contributing to creating unforgettable moments and memories.
Vietnamese tourists' demand for autumn travel is increasing.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Chung, representative of Etrip4u - a travel agency specializing in the Chinese tour market, the number of customers booking tours to see yellow and red leaves this year increased by about 30% compared to last year. In total, the three markets of China, Korea and Japan, about 45% of customers booked tours to China. The remaining, Korea accounted for 35% of customers and Japan accounted for 20% of customers.
"After a period of being affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, the demand for Vietnamese tourists to go on autumn sightseeing tours has increased day by day. In particular, because the tour cost this year is quite good, these package tour products are much more accessible than before. We have increased the frequency of departures from 2 trips/week to 4-5 trips/week at destinations to serve the increased demand of customers," Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Chung added.

Meanwhile, Nam Thanh Travel recorded a 25% increase in the number of visitors. Ms. Dao Mai Dung, representative of this unit analyzed: "Autumn is the best season to explore Northeast Asia. This year, many Vietnamese tourists travel, they book tours early to get good deals and be proactive about departure times. We believe that this will continue to be a strategic product for many years to come."
According to the above tourism and travel service businesses, the main reasons for the sharp increase in the number of tourists booking tours to hunt for yellow and red leaves this year in all three markets of China, Korea and Japan are reasonable prices and convenient visa procedures. Along with that, short-term tourism products are designed with diverse experiences, suitable for many subjects.
With a cost of about 10-20 million VND for a journey of discovery for one person, tourists can enjoy autumn in countries near Vietnam. This price is considered by many tourists to be quite "affordable" compared to before.
In 2025, visa policies of some countries in Northeast Asia will also be relaxed. This will help Vietnamese tourists easily access and travel.
In addition, short-term tours are also designed to suit many groups of people such as: office workers, young families or groups of friends traveling for a short time. This is a big plus for those with limited vacation time.
