Ho Chi Minh City improves the attraction of remittance resources

Accordingly, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and People's Committee have just directed the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese to coordinate with relevant agencies to research and develop a project to promote remittance resources, thereby turning remittances into a driving force and contributing to the city's socio -economic development.

In addition, the advisory agencies for project development, representatives of Vietnamese embassies in countries with large remittance sources, the community of Vietnamese intellectuals and businessmen abroad, and economic entities of Ho Chi Minh City have actively contributed ideas to the process of building specialized mechanisms and policies to attract capital from overseas Vietnamese into production and business to directly penetrate into the Ho Chi Minh City economy.

In order to attract remittances, Ho Chi Minh City also organized 4 seminars at the Committee on Overseas Vietnamese to collect opinions from experts in the financial sector from institutes, schools, major banks, domestic and international financial funds, and Vietnamese embassies in the US, Japan, Australia, India, the Philippines, Korea, Singapore, India, the Philippines, etc.

At these events, the community of Vietnamese intellectuals and businessmen abroad contributed ideas on solutions to attract and effectively promote remittance resources in Ho Chi Minh City.

Of which, the city received 50 presentations and more than 100 comments contributing ideas and experiences in calling for and promoting remittance resources.

The Ho Chi Minh City Committee for Overseas Vietnamese has organized roundtable conferences to provide information and gather opinions from the overseas Vietnamese community at the embassies of Korea, Japan, Finland, Denmark, Sweden and Thailand.

Previously, on September 26, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City officially signed and issued the Project "Policy to effectively promote remittance resources in Ho Chi Minh City from now until 2030".

At the same time, issue a Plan to assign tasks to Departments, branches, People's Committees of districts and Thu Duc City to implement the Project as approved.

It is expected that the Conference to deploy the Project "Policy to effectively promote remittance resources in Ho Chi Minh City from now until 2030" and to honor outstanding overseas Vietnamese, on the occasion of the Vietnamese Entrepreneurs' Day, will be held on October 11 at the Headquarters of the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese in Ho Chi Minh City and transmitted online.

According to statistics from the State Bank of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City branch, remittances to the city in the first 6 months of 2024 reached nearly 5.2 billion USD, equal to 54.7% compared to the whole year of 2023 and increased by 19.5% over the same period.
