In the context of the general high school graduation exam scores decreasing in many subjects, many majors and schools reduced the floor scores to ensure recruitment sources, but the teacher training sector still maintains a high floor score in many majors.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Education - one of the key teacher training schools in the country, will recruit nearly 5,200 students in 2025.
In this year's admission period, along with direct admission and priority admission, the school applies the method of considering high school graduation exam scores and combined admission (combining academic records and specialized competency assessment test results; high school graduation exam scores and aptitude test; specialized competency assessment test results and aptitude test).
Along with enrolling students at the main campus in Ho Chi Minh City, the school has two additional branches in Long An and Gia Lai.
With the method of considering high school graduation exam scores this year, 22 teacher training majors at the main campus have a minimum score of 19-24 points to receive applications. Six Pedagogy majors have the highest minimum score of 24 points, including Math, Chemistry, Literature, History, Geography, and English; in which Pedagogy Chemistry, History, and Geography increased by 1 point compared to last year.
At the Gia Lai and Long An branches of the school, the minimum score for teacher training majors is 1 point lower than at the main campus. Other majors of the school have a minimum score of 18-22 points with the method of considering high school graduation scores, depending on the major.
In the combined admission method, the pedagogical sector accepts applications with a score of 17-21, depending on the sector; the remaining sectors accept applications with a score of 17-20.
In 2025, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education organized three specialized competency assessment exams, with more than 28,300 candidates taking the exam. In the 6 subjects of this year's exam, the average score in most subjects increased, the strongest in Literature, Physics, and Biology; only Math decreased slightly, not significantly. The score of this exam is used by the school in the method of considering combined with academic records or aptitude tests for admission.
Saigon University - a teacher training unit of Ho Chi Minh City, enrolls 5,220 students this year. The school applies 4 admission methods including direct admission and priority admission; considering high school graduation exam scores; considering Ho Chi Minh City National University's capacity assessment test scores; and V-SAT exam results.
Among them, majors in the teacher training group do not consider the results of the competency assessment exam and the V-SAT exam.

For teacher training majors, the school accepts applications from candidates with scores from 18-25, most of which increased by 1-6 points; 4 majors maintain the same level as last year.
Among them, History Pedagogy and Geography Pedagogy have the strongest increase in floor scores, from 19 points last year to 25 points. This is the highest floor score in the school and is also among the top in schools and majors up to this point.
The next majors with the highest floor scores of the school are Mathematics Education 24.5 points, Chemistry Education, Physics Education, Literature Education, English Education with the same level of 24 points.
The remaining training groups of Saigon University have a floor score of 17-22 points, depending on the major. In recent years, the entrance standard scores for many teacher training majors have remained high.
This is a positive signal in attracting competent people to study pedagogical fields, contributing to improving training quality as well as output for this field.
The increasing attraction and competitiveness in teacher training recruitment is partly due to the limited training quota - assigned according to social needs, along with the positive impact of policies supporting living expenses and tuition fees for teacher training students and the increasingly concerned treatment of teachers.
