Ho Chi Minh City and Liverpool City (UK) share experience in developing green healthcare

The signing of a medical cooperation agreement between Ho Chi Minh City and Liverpool aims to enhance mutual learning in developing and improving medical capacity between the two sides.

On September 23, Associate Professor, Dr. Tang Chi Thuong, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, said that the delegation in charge of the health department of the UK Department of Business and Trade and the department had just had a discussion and agreed to sign a health cooperation agreement between Ho Chi Minh City and Liverpool to enhance mutual learning in developing and improving health capacity between the two sides.

According to Ms. Nicola Rachel Parry, Head of Healthcare Marketing, UK Department for Business and Trade, the city wishes to cooperate and share experiences with the city's healthcare sector in areas that are strengths of the UK healthcare system such as: innovation in leadership, management and provision of healthcare services; developing a sustainable pharmaceutical industry, medical research, conducting clinical trials on drugs and vaccines; developing green healthcare, protecting the environment (towards the goal of "net zero" by 2050), developing and applying high technology in the healthcare sector; exchanging and learning experiences in establishing new hospitals in the city...

Associate Professor, Dr. Tang Chi Thuong thanked the UK Department of Business and Trade for its effective support of the health sector of Ho Chi Minh City in recent times, especially the cooperation of the Oxford University Clinical Research Unit (OUCRU) in identifying disease-causing agents in the city; and affirmed that the city's health sector supports the idea of a health cooperation program between Ho Chi Minh City and Liverpool.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health hopes that the UK Department of Business and Trade in general and Liverpool City in particular will share experiences and support the training of high-quality medical human resources for the city, pilot international standard training courses for medical staff through cooperation with Ho Chi Minh City health universities, and move towards establishing Vietnamese-British medical faculties at universities in Ho Chi Minh City; build "green hospitals", develop a network of family doctors in primary health care, support disease prevention and continue to support and implement innovative and creative programs for the Ho Chi Minh City health sector in the coming time.
