Tra Vinh introduces the 100-year wax coconut festival

Vice Chairman of Tra Vinh Provincial People's Committee Mr. Le Thanh Binh said: This is the first special event organized at the provincial level to honor and promote the brand and unique values ​​of wax coconut.

The event affirmed the efforts and determination to bring products processed from wax coconut to the world market, calling for investment in the field of agricultural processing and tourism with the desire to introduce and promote the potential, advantages, investment attraction policies as well as continue to preserve, maintain and promote the Vu Lan Thang Festival, the religious festival of the Chinese community in Cau Ke district, which has been included in the List of National Intangible Cultural Heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The 100th Anniversary Festival of Tra Vinh Wax Coconut and Vu Lan Festival Week of Cau Ke District took place in 7 days, from August 25 to August 31 in Cau Ke District, with 12 main activities. Among them, there were outstanding activities such as: Opening Ceremony of the 100th Anniversary Festival of Tra Vinh Wax Coconut; Workshop on Wax Coconut; Exhibition of delicious fruit specialties of Tra Vinh Province; Competition of making 100 delicious dishes from Wax Coconut; Discussion "Cau Ke Tourism - Potential along Hau River".

Wax coconut is one of the famous specialties of Tra Vinh, especially in Cau Ke district. Wax coconut appeared in the 1960s when a Khmer monk in Tra Vinh brought it from Cambodia to plant in Cau Ke district and has developed until today.
