According to Mr. Do Long Trieu, tour guide of Ho Chi Minh City - Ca Mau tour, when night falls, tourists will put on ao ba ba (traditional Vietnamese dress), wear gloves, put flashlights on their heads and follow the locals into the forest to catch crabs with great excitement.

The flickering light from the flashlight on the head shines on the roots of mangrove trees and sycamore trees to find the crabs crawling out of their holes to look for food. The bamboo basket on the side is quickly filled with crabs in the crisp laughter, mixed with drops of sweat, an indescribable feeling for the tourists. Because at this time, the tourists seem to have transformed into real farmers.

“Not only three-sided crabs, many tourists also have the opportunity to catch mudskippers and sea crabs - species associated with the rich mangrove ecosystem. Starting from around 7 p.m., locals and tourists wade through the mud together, using flashlights to catch them. Skilled people can catch up to ten kilos each night. For tourists, it is an experience; for locals, it is a meal and their daily income,” added Mr. Do Long Trieu.

Similarly, Ms. Anh Hong, a tourist from Can Tho, expressed that this activity helps tourists understand more about the local people's life and culture, when they witness the crab fishing profession - a long-standing livelihood of the people of Ca Mau. This is an interesting and unique cultural feature that can attract tourists to Ca Mau.

In addition to crabs, visitors can also catch fish and shrimp when experiencing the night tour in Ca Mau forest.

According to travel experts, after each trip to catch three-striped crabs, tourists can prepare their own dishes with a strong Western flavor such as salted three-striped crabs, soaked in garlic and chili, and eaten with fragrant sticky white rice... This will definitely be a unique experience for all tourists.

Besides, the experience of catching crabs at night is not only about the feeling of conquest but also about the connection between people and nature, the enduring vitality in the land at the end of the Fatherland.
