Giving gifts and free heart screening for preschool children

On September 23, at Tien Phong Kindergarten (Quang Oai commune, Hanoi), the Social Work Center and Hanoi Children's Support Fund coordinated with Hanoi Heart Hospital and Quang Oai Commune People's Committee to organize a program to give gifts and provide free school cardiovascular examinations for preschool children.

Speaking at the opening of the program, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Center for Social Work and Children's Fund Vu Hong Thu emphasized: The Hanoi Center for Social Work and Children's Fund has the function of providing social work services; focusing on, receiving, managing, and nurturing homeless people; subjects in need of emergency protection; abandoned children; the elderly, children lost from their families and other subjects according to regulations; receiving support resources from domestic and foreign organizations and individuals; mobilizing, receiving, managing, and using the Hanoi Children's Fund to carry out the purpose of protecting, caring for, and educating children according to the provisions of law.

Every year, the Center carries out many practical activities to support the implementation of children's basic rights such as the right to survival, the right to development, the right to protection and the right to participation, through programs such as giving scholarships, bicycles, long-term study support for children who overcome difficulties to study well; supporting surgery costs for diseases and disabilities such as congenital heart disease, smile surgery, maxillofacial deformities... with about 20,000 children benefiting.

Congenital heart disease in children is a dangerous disease that can affect the child's life if not detected and treated promptly. Every year, the Social Work Center and the Hanoi Children's Fund coordinate with the Hanoi Heart Hospital to conduct congenital heart disease screening for children with the desire to promptly support the examination and early detection of congenital heart disease in children, especially children under 6 years old. Thereby, promoting the policy of supporting congenital heart disease surgery according to Decision 55a of the Prime Minister ; at the same time, contributing to the care of children's cardiovascular health.

In 2025, the Center will coordinate with Hanoi Heart Hospital to screen nearly 10,000 preschool children in the communes of Quang Oai, An Khanh and Phu Nghia. Following the screening program at Tien Phong Kindergarten, all children studying at public preschools in the above communes will be screened. After that, children suspected of having congenital heart disease will be examined in depth at Hanoi Heart Hospital on September 28, 2025 to have an accurate conclusion about the child's condition.

According to statistics, in Quang Oai commune, there are currently 2,391 children studying in 7 kindergartens in the commune. For the program to be successful, the participation of Hanoi Heart Hospital, People's Committee, Department of Culture - Society of Quang Oai commune in close coordination with the Social Work Center and Hanoi Children's Support Fund in organizing and preparing conditions is of special importance. This is also a practical activity, demonstrating the concern of the city's leaders, as well as the Hanoi Department of Health in taking care of children's health.

Representing the People's Committee of Quang Oai commune, Mr. Dang Quyet Thang, Standing Member of the Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Oai commune, affirmed that this activity is even more meaningful when it is organized in the bustling atmosphere of preparing for the Mid-Autumn Festival 2025. Mr. Thang emphasized: This is a meaningful and practical activity, demonstrating the special attention of all levels, sectors, and medical staff for the health and future of the young generation - the buds of the homeland.

Children are the happiness of every family, the future of the homeland and the country. Every child needs attention, care, love and protection. The cardiovascular examination program will help detect early, prevent and support the treatment of cardiovascular diseases in children, thereby helping them have the conditions to develop healthily, comprehensively both physically and mentally.

The program does not only stop at the medical significance, but also spreads a profound humanistic message: It is the companionship, sharing and responsibility of the whole society in caring for the future generation. The little hearts of today will grow up, healthy, full of dreams and aspirations - to contribute to building the homeland of Quang Oai to become more and more beautiful./.
