This morning, August 14, the Steering Committee for prevention and control of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods of Quang Tri province (Steering Committee 389) met to evaluate the results of the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the first 6 months of the year, deploy tasks for the coming time; summarize the results of implementing Directive No. 05/CT-UBND of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee on launching a peak period to fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the province from June 15 to July 15, 2024. In recent times, the Provincial Steering Committee 389 has continued to thoroughly grasp the direction of the Government , ministries, branches, the National Steering Committee 389, the Provincial People's Committee and has proactively developed plans and issued many documents directing branches and forces in the area to implement key plans and topics.

In the first 6 months of 2024, the forces have destroyed many lines and groups with large quantities and values ​​of goods, and criminal prosecution has also increased sharply, contributing to curbing smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods, and stabilizing the market.

The authorities discovered, arrested and handled 1,018 cases (up 17.82% over the same period last year) with a value of VND 20,296 billion (up 101.76% over the same period last year), collected VND 24,898 billion for the budget (up 30.19% over the same period last year), criminally prosecuted 168 cases/251 subjects, and imposed an administrative fine of VND 200 million.

During the peak period of the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the province from June 15 to July 15, 2024, the functional forces fought, detected and handled 175 cases/188 subjects with goods worth 6.18 billion VND. Fines were imposed with an amount of 2.1 billion VND and criminal proceedings were taken against 41 cases/64 subjects. The seized items were mainly synthetic drugs, firecrackers, gold, cigarettes, sugar, alcohol, beer, cosmetics, electronic products and household appliances...

In the coming time, the Provincial Steering Committee 389 has set out many key tasks such as: continuing to thoroughly grasp and strictly implement the directives of the central government and the Provincial People's Committee on combating smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods. Continuing to strengthen the handling of warehouses and ringleaders; focusing on combating smuggling on the border and National Highway 9. Stepping up the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods through e-commerce, focusing on drugs, fireworks, sugar, cigarettes, etc.

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Tien acknowledged and highly appreciated the active and effective participation of functional agencies in preventing and combating smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods in the area.

At the same time, it is required that relevant functional units and localities in the coming time further strengthen coordination and resolutely implement measures and plans to combat smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods.

Strengthen the fight to prevent and strictly handle the trading, transportation, and gathering of smuggled goods, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods through small-scale routes, trails, and openings along the border; the process of handling violations must always ensure compliance with legal regulations.

The authorities of districts, towns and cities, especially border districts, should strengthen propaganda and mobilize people not to cover up or assist smugglers, contributing to the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the province.
