Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau was appointed Deputy Minister of National Defense.

(Dan Tri) - Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee, was appointed to the position of Deputy Minister of National Defense according to the Prime Minister's decision.

On September 30, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed Decision No. 2165 on the appointment of Deputy Minister of National Defense .

Accordingly, the Prime Minister decided to appoint Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee, to hold the position of Deputy Minister of National Defense.

This decision takes effect from September 30.

Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau was born in 1967, from Vinh Long , with a Bachelor's degree in Party Building and State Administration.

Before 2019, he was Deputy Political Commissar and then Political Commissar of the 8th Infantry Division; Chief of Politics of Military Region 9.

In 2019, he was promoted to the rank of Major General and appointed Political Commissar of Military Region 9 in November 2020.

In early 2022, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed a decision to appoint Major General Nguyen Van Gau to hold the position of Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army.

A year later, he was promoted to Lieutenant General, continued to serve as Political Commissar of Military Region 9, and held the position of Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army.

In mid-2024, the Politburo decided to transfer and appoint Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau to hold the position of Secretary of the Bac Giang Provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.
