Green manufacturing

Mr. Nguyen Huu Chi, Director of Production Engineering and Research and Development Department of Dong Lam Company shared that recently, Dong Lam Cement Factory has invested in modern technology lines. In the design, the factory always focuses on applying technology and equipment with low energy consumption, reducing NOx emissions, new generation TTF combustion chambers capable of using low-grade fuel sources and alternative fuels...

The factory also invested in and put into operation a NOx reduction system using the SNCR method to improve the ability to treat NOx emitted into the environment, applying a waste heat utilization system for drying, grinding and generating electricity. Thereby, significantly reducing energy consumption per ton of product, reducing excess heat emissions, reducing fuel use; at the same time, increasing the use of mineral additives to replace clinker helps reduce CO2 emissions.

Dong Lam Company also regularly develops and implements plans and programs to reduce the consumption of raw materials and energy. Every year, the unit develops and implements a plan to use energy economically and effectively by changing input materials to reduce or eliminate increasingly scarce raw materials; at the same time, it also reduces the creation of toxic waste in the production process.

In addition, the campaign to "green" the entire campus and the belt around the factory, creating a "green lung", has contributed to minimizing environmental impacts and realizing the goal of sustainable development. Realizing this, right from the first days of construction, Dong Lam has considered trees as an important factor along with modern technology. Not only in the working space, but also the internal roads outside the campus, warehouse areas and production corridors are covered with trees with an area of ​​over 1.6 million m2. In particular, the dense green belt of trees surrounding the factory has formed an ecological buffer layer, limiting noise and regulating the climate.

In the coming time, to optimize production as well as contribute to environmental protection (BVMT), Dong Lam Company will accelerate research, evaluation and further improve programs and innovative solutions to achieve the main goals in the green production strategy and sustainable development. Accordingly, the cement factory continues to promote the use of renewable energy, alternative fuels... contributing to cleaning the environment and reducing the use of fossil fuels, reducing CO2 emissions, gradually moving towards the goal of carbon neutrality in the future.

Sustainable development

The company identifies corporate governance as an important foundation for long-term development. Currently, the management and operation system is being gradually standardized, linked to legal regulations and transparency orientation in production and business activities. At the same time, the company also increases the application of information technology in production data management, quality monitoring and periodic reporting, helping to improve operational efficiency and transparency. Along with that, it continues to promote research, improvement, innovation, and application of operational optimization solutions and equipment to increase production efficiency and minimize factors affecting the environment.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Chi affirmed that in the supply chain, the factory proactively builds cooperation criteria with suppliers and partners in the direction of complying with safety, quality and social responsibility criteria. This is the first step towards forming a sustainable value chain in the future. In the long term, the factory strives to gradually approach and apply modern management standards, improve responsibility and increase trust with customers, partners and the community.

Dong Lam Company has also made many improvements such as utilizing exhaust heat to dry the mill to reduce the operation of the auxiliary combustion chamber using DO fuel to reduce emissions and save costs. Deploying many experimental programs, notably the use of technological additives, active mineral additives, granulated slag, fly ash to improve the quality of cement products, reduce production costs, protect the environment by reducing the use of clinker in cement, contributing to reducing gas emissions, reducing the use of fossil fuels, helping other industries to handle waste and reduce environmental pollution.

In 2024, the Company started construction and put into operation a power station utilizing excess heat from the furnace's exhaust gas with a capacity of about 8,700kW, meeting about 30% of the factory's electricity needs.

To save and effectively use water resources, and at the same time save costs on clean water used for production, the unit plans to deploy the use of drained water from limestone mines, process it and bring it back to the factory for reuse in production.

Dong Lam Company also invested in adding many automated and mechanized devices, applying information technology to replace humans such as automatic bagging machines, automatic baling machines, automatic delivery management... to free up labor and protect the health of workers.
