After the Hanoi Department of Education and Training sent an urgent document to schools about proactively responding to heavy rain caused by storm No. 11 and flexibly adjusting teaching plans on the morning of October 6, many schools announced that they would welcome students back to school.

A representative of Kid's Color Kindergarten (Nam Tu Liem) said that many parents are concerned about sending their children to class, so the school is flexible in accepting students. However, the school encourages families with means to keep their children at home to ensure safety.

To prevent storm risks, the school has implemented many safety measures such as checking facilities, reinforcing roofs and door systems, increasing staff to support pick-up and drop-off of children, and advising parents to move carefully and avoid rush hours during heavy rain.

Similarly, at 7:45 a.m. on October 6, Hoa Sua Kindergarten (Dai Kim Ward, Hoang Mai) announced via Zalo group that it would welcome students to school. Explaining this decision, the school said that storm No. 11 had weakened and the Department had issued an official dispatch allowing students to return to school. However, due to the passive situation, the notice was sent quite late, with a reminder for parents to have their children have breakfast at home before going to class.

Many parents were confused by the sudden change of the Department of Education and Training. Ms. Duong Ngoc (Thanh Xuan district) said that the night before she received a notice of school closure, and at 7am she received a notice of school resumption. She did not have time to arrange her work and was forced to let her child stay home.

“The school changed so quickly that many parents couldn’t bring their children in time. Due to the lack of students, the teachers had to combine classes. Many children didn’t know the new teacher and cried, which affected their psychology,” Ngoc shared.

Meanwhile, due to the nature of her busy work, Ms. HT (Nam Tu Liem) expressed her joy when receiving the notice to welcome students back to class, saying that this is a way to help parents feel secure at work and children maintain a stable routine.

To ensure the safety of students and teachers before storm No. 11, the Department of Education and Training requested that schools let students take a day off on October 6 and switch from in-person teaching to online teaching.

However, on the morning of October 6, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training immediately issued an urgent dispatch, requiring schools to closely monitor weather developments, proactively and flexibly adjust teaching and learning plans, and ensure absolute safety for students. In case students come to class, schools must arrange, organize management and teaching appropriately, both flexibly and safely for both students and teachers.

This announcement is based on the latest developments of the storm as forecast by the meteorological and hydrological agency.
