AISVN School said it has received many emails sharing concerns and questions regarding information about the plan to complete the 2023-2024 school year.

The school takes note of all parents' concerns and questions, and has provided a general response to the entire community.

The school does not have enough teachers to teach after April 26.

Explaining why the school ended the school year on April 26, the school said that many foreign teachers had announced their resignations since the beginning of May 2024 or earlier. During the last two weeks of April 2024, the school had to continuously plan and arrange substitute teaching schedules for absent teachers every day.

In addition, the majority of teachers have expressed that they cannot agree to continue working without full pay. Teachers have chosen to work until April 26 for the benefit of students and to ensure that they can finish the school year. The school will not have enough teachers to teach after that date.

Furthermore, current financial resources are not enough to cover essential operating costs such as electricity bills, telephone bills, maintenance of outsourced learning equipment (such as photocopiers, projectors, etc.) and shuttle services.

Ending the school year early allows schools to focus on addressing immediate, key concerns, such as staffing shortages and financial constraints.

The school also informed about how to record scores and evaluate the learning process in semester 2, specifically:

At the primary level, student grades are based on continuous assessment of student achievement and growth in all subjects throughout term 2.

At the secondary level, teachers are reviewing second semester grades based on summative and formative assessments submitted from January 2024 to present. All chapters and lessons have met the hours and expectations required by the International Baccalaureate (IB) organization.

"The school has sufficient evidence of learning and enough hours for this school year, so the IB Organization has understood and supported the plan to complete the school year early to respond to unforeseen circumstances and protect the learning community of AISVN," added a representative of the principal's office.

The school has not yet determined the time to refund the money to the parents who contributed.

When and how will parents be reimbursed for the money they contributed to the shared account? The school said the school board had previously informed and assured them that the funds would be loans, and would be repaid once the restructuring was complete.

"The school understands the concerns and disappointment of parents who have trusted and supported the school in the past time. The school hopes that parents will be patient while waiting for confirmation from the school board about the method and timeline for refund," the principal's office expressed.
