Historical journey

Looking back at history, teacher Le Ngoc Hung, Party Cell Secretary, Principal of Pham Phu Thu High School - Go Noi shared that after the country's reunification, children in the three communes of Go Noi area, Dien Quang, Dien Trung and Dien Phong (formerly Dien Ban), who graduated from secondary school, if they wanted to continue to high school, had to travel dozens of kilometers to reach educational facilities in Vinh Dien and Dien Tho.

At that time, the traffic infrastructure in Go Noi area was very bad, students who wanted to "seek the master's teachings" had to cross Ky Lam railway bridge, Den bridge (now Go Noi bridge), or cross the river by boat which was very dangerous. Therefore, many students had to give up their dreams, the rate of students going to high school gradually decreased.

Faced with this reality, the locality has petitioned superiors to establish a high school in the Go Noi area so that children can continue to study.

In the 1985-1986 school year, the high school officially operated with facilities including a 2-storey building (12 classrooms), a 3-room principal's office built under the motto "State and people work together".

On June 27, 2025, the Minister of Education and Training signed a decision to award a Certificate of Merit to Pham Phu Thu High School for its outstanding achievements in the process of construction and development. On August 12, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City signed a decision to award the City People's Committee's Flag in recognition of the 40-year achievements in construction and development of Pham Phu Thu - Go Noi High School (1985 - 2025).

The first principal, Mr. Pham Thuy, and his colleagues, with their youthful enthusiasm, overcame countless difficulties and hardships to build the school from school to class. Teachers and students worked together outside of regular class hours to build the school yard and improve the landscape...

Most of the teachers live far away, and the school does not have a dormitory, so they have to arrange accommodation in private homes, temporarily borrow the dormitory area of primary school teachers; use 2 classrooms, then build a dormitory with bamboo and thatch walls and arrange additional temporary accommodation.

The unit also works with local authorities and cooperatives to provide more land for teachers to increase production and improve their lives.

Despite the hardship, teachers are still happy and enthusiastic in imparting knowledge; they stay close to the class and school for the sake of their beloved students, making parents respect and admire them even more.

Quang Nam is famous for "Five phoenixes flying together", Go Noi is the hometown of 3 out of 5 phoenixes.

“Located in the center of Go Noi area, honored to be named after the famous mandarin Pham Phu Thu, the school constantly strives to teach and learn to be worthy of the heroic tradition and studiousness of the homeland, with the trust of all levels, sectors, people and previous generations of teachers...”, Mr. Hung shared.

Over the past 40 years, from a small school, Pham Phu Thu High School has become one of the prestigious high schools with a team of dedicated teachers and staff, and spacious facilities. Thousands of students have had their dreams fulfilled on their journey into life.

Teacher Le Van Dung, Vice Principal of the school, shared that the unit's achievements are living proof of that tireless effort.

The graduation rate of students in the 2023-2024 school year is 100%. In the 2023-2024 school year, the school had 13 students winning prizes in the provincial 12th grade excellent student competition; in the 2024-2025 school year, 19 students won prizes (4 second prizes, 6 third prizes).

Last school year, the school's students also won third prize in the "Science and Technology Innovation" contest, the "Ethical and Legal Situation Stories" debate contest, the "Startup Ideas" contest, and the game show "Quang Province Students".

Teacher Dung said that life skills education, moral education, physical education, and arts and literature are always focused on by the school.

Party member development work is focused on. In the 2023-2024 school year, the Party cell developed 5 Party members who are grade 12 students and 1 Party member who is a teacher; in the 2024-2025 school year, 4 Party members who are grade 12 students and 1 Party member who is a teacher were admitted.

The school has received Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Education and Training, and the People's Committee of Quang Nam Province (old). In particular, in the 2003-2004 school year, the school was honored to receive the Third Class Labor Medal from the President...

Teacher Dung affirmed that these results were achieved thanks to the persistent efforts of the school, the companionship of parents, the support of local authorities, the attention of fellow countrymen, philanthropists and the efforts of generations of students.
