Sipping afternoon tea, Mr. Thuan told about his life. Born and raised in Son Bang commune (Huong Son, Ha Tinh ), in 1982, at the call of the Fatherland, Mr. Thuan joined the army and was assigned to the 14th Special Forces Battalion, Front 479, fighting on the Cambodian battlefield.

As a special forces soldier, he was always the pioneer in carrying out many dangerous missions. In 1984, while volunteering to open a door for his teammates to charge forward, he was hit by a mine and seriously injured, with a disability rate of 41%. In 1986, Mr. Thuan moved to Dak Lak to start a career.

Despite his limited health, he was still full of energy. He started working as a security guard, but not long after the company dissolved. Unable to make a living by farming, he turned to buying coffee to sustain his life. Every day, he traveled to remote villages to collect goods and then resell them for profit. Thanks to his diligence and dedication, his business was favorable, and he had enough to eat and live on. But the business world was also full of thorns and fierceness. From being well-off, Mr. Thuan suddenly became penniless when in 2004, coffee prices suddenly dropped sharply. He had many customers who were running to pay him off, so his difficulties piled up.

Instead of giving up, he remained calm and optimistic, encouraging his wife to start over together. “When I went to war, I was determined to die. Now I am luckier than my comrades because I am still alive, so the difficulties and challenges in the marketplace cannot defeat a soldier who has emerged from the flames of war,” Mr. Thuan shared with a determined look.

Starting from a negative number, but this time, veteran Vu Nhu Thuan has more lessons for his business. He not only buys coffee but also expands to many other agricultural products to diversify his income and reduce risks. When success comes, he uses his savings to buy 6 hectares of land to plant durian forests. Realizing the potential for exporting agricultural products, in 2013, veteran Vu Nhu Thuan boldly opened Phu An Agricultural Products Company Limited, specializing in purchasing and processing local agricultural products such as cocoa, passion fruit, etc.

With a strategic vision, he not only focuses on the domestic market but also aims at export. His company is creating jobs for dozens of local workers. Mr. Nguyen Duc Thai, Chairman of the Association of War Veterans of Ea Na commune commented: “The story of War Veteran Vu Nhu Thuan is a living proof of the determination and spirit of overcoming difficulties of Uncle Ho's soldiers. Wherever and in whatever circumstances, he always shines with the spirit of overcoming himself, a source of inspiration for many generations”.
