Promoting the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers, veteran Do Dinh Loi not only legitimately enriches his family but also creates jobs, shares experiences, contributes to building new rural areas, and spreads the spirit of innovation and creativity of soldiers in peacetime.
Born in 1964 in the poor countryside of Ky Anh (now Ky Hoa commune), Ha Tinh , veteran Do Dinh Loi enlisted in the army in 1986; trained in the military environment, imbued with the qualities of resilience, thrift, and creativity.
In 1989, returning to his hometown, he faced a difficult life, struggling to make a living. With the desire to change his life, in 1992, he brought his family to Lam Dong , bringing with him a meager 150,000 VND from both his paternal and maternal sides.

In the early days in Lac Duong (now Lang Biang ward - Da Lat), his family lived in a 10m² hut on land borrowed from relatives. “The couple did all kinds of jobs: hoeing land, picking vegetables, whatever people asked, the wages were only a few thousand dong per day, but with the spirit of not being afraid of hardship, the couple saved up a little capital, bought 2 sao of garden land (equivalent to 2,000m²) to cultivate themselves”, Mr. Do Dinh Loi choked up as he recounted.

By 2017, Mr. Loi saw a great opportunity from roses, the flower known as the “queen” with high economic value. He decided to change crops, entering a new journey, full of challenges but also opening up horizons of hope.

But starting a rose business is not easy. Lack of capital, lack of experience, poor technique, the first flower crops were diseased, crop failure, heavy losses.
There were times when I thought about giving up, but I thought, I'm a soldier, used to hardship, how can I give up.

However, he still persevered with his wife, working and studying at the same time, diligently participating in training courses on high-tech flower growing techniques organized by the locality and the Veterans Association. “What you don’t know, you have to learn, change your thinking, and apply science and technology,” he said, as if passing on valuable lessons to the next generation.

And so, over the years, his family’s high-tech rose growing model gradually stabilized. From the initial few acres of land, the couple accumulated capital, bought more land, built greenhouses, and invested in modern machinery.

Up to now, Mr. Loi's rose farm is 1.5 hectares wide, worth tens of billions of VND, with all kinds of flowers, brilliant colors, becoming one of the largest and most effective models in Lang Biang ward - Da Lat.

“Each year, the farm brings in revenue of 4.5-5 billion VND, with a stable profit of 2.5-3 billion VND. Not only does it enrich the family, the farm also creates jobs for 6 local workers, with a salary of 8-10 million VND/month, helping to stabilize the lives of the people,” said Ms. Vo Thi Xuan, wife of Mr. Do Dinh Loi.

"Currently, the farm is not only a production facility, but also a model, large, modern and most effective in Lang Biang ward - Da Lat. In the locality, Mr. Loi always regularly shares his experience with the people, provides technical support to other farming households, contributes to replicating effective economic models, and demonstrates the pioneering role of veterans in the community," said Mr. Nong Van Dang, a flower farmer at the farm who has accompanied Mr. Loi's family for the past 4 years.

From his economic success, Mr. Loi has built a spacious house, with a two-story villa of more than 200 square meters, located on a plot of land of nearly 1,000 square meters. The house was built in 8 months, inaugurated a year ago, with a total cost of about 12 billion VND. This is not only a symbol of prosperity but also the result of honest, thrifty labor, reflecting the simple but steadfast qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers.

Walking along the carefully tended rose beds in the greenhouse, we not only saw the brilliant colors of the flowers but also felt the strong vitality of a person always moving forward. The story of veteran Do Dinh Loi is one of the concrete evidences of the will to overcome difficulties, of the strength of the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers in peacetime.

The journey of veteran Do Dinh Loi is a shining example, affirming the pioneering role of veterans in economic development, contributing to the construction of new rural areas. Especially, in the context of the whole country making efforts to implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, people like Mr. Loi are the flame of inspiration, awakening the inner strength of the people, towards a prosperous and happy country.
