According to the latest update from FIFA, the Vietnam team has dropped from 113th to 114th in the world in the September 2025 rankings.
In September, coach Kim Sang Sik and his team kept their score unchanged due to not having any official matches. However, the Libyan team (up 5 places to 112 in the world) caused the Vietnamese team to drop in rank.
In the recent training session, the "golden star warriors" only had 2 friendly matches with two domestic clubs, Nam Dinh Blue Steel (lost 0-4) and Hanoi Police Club (won 4-3).
Both matches were only closed friendlies with the club so they did not count towards the FIFA rankings.

In Asia, Japan (world rank 19) is still the highest ranked team, followed by Iran (world rank 21) and South Korea (world rank 23).
Meanwhile, Argentina lost the world number 1 position to Spain. Messi and his teammates fell to 3rd place.
