Edwin Chen, 37, is the mysterious face behind Surge AI - the world's leading artificial intelligence training company. He worked at Google, Facebook and Twitter before starting his own business in 2020 with his personal savings.
Surge AI currently has more than 1 million freelancers in 50 countries and 2024 revenue of $1.2 billion. Chen owns 75% of the company's shares, holds assets of 18 billion USD, and is on Forbes 400 this year.
Unlike the cheap data labeling model, Surge recruits professors and researchers to directly “trap” and train AI. It was this difference that helped Surge sign a contract worth more than 100 million USD/year with Google after just one call in the middle of the night. Chen is described as intelligent, eccentric, minimalist, and disapproving of Silicon Valley's power plays.
Surge's goal, he asserts, is to provide high-quality data to realize the dream of general artificial intelligence. Dear readers, please watch more videos : AI Trash Cleaning | Hanoi 18:00
