According to VNA correspondent in Buenos Aires, on May 20, the final round of the U20 World Cup officially kicked off the 23-day competition with a brief opening ceremony that fully reflected the passion of the people of the Tango Country for the king sport .
The opening ceremony was held at 5:00 p.m. (local time) at Madre de Ciudades Stadium, in the city of Santiago del Estero in northern Argentina, nearly 1,000 km from the capital Buenos Aires.
The ceremony featured traditional Argentine cultural performances, including Tango and other folk dances, along with a flag parade of the 24 competing teams.
Tens of thousands of spectators in the stadium also joined in the elaborate performance of a group of male and female dancers in extremely impressive contrasting black and white costumes.
Famous singer Patricia Sosa sang the Argentine national anthem in front of a large audience at the stadium inaugurated in 2021.

There are 24 teams participating in the 2023 U20 World Cup Finals, divided into 6 groups. The top two teams in each group and the 4 third-placed teams with the best results will advance to the round of 16.
Initially, the 2023 U20 World Cup Finals were scheduled to be held in Indonesia, but at the last minute, non-professional reasons forced the World Football Federation (FIFA) to strip the Southeast Asian country of hosting rights and give them to Argentina.
