U23 Vietnam plays 2 matches with U23 Qatar, preparing for SEA Games 33

VHO - The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) said that in preparation for the 33rd SEA Games, the Vietnam U23 team will go to the UAE for training and play two friendly matches there with U23 Qatar.

On October 4, the U23 Vietnam team will gather in Hanoi , parallel with the Vietnam team during FIFA Days in October 2025.

Young Vietnamese players will have a useful training trip in the UAE

According to plan, U23 Vietnam will train at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center (Hanoi) until October 7, then will go to the UAE for training.

Here, the team will have two friendly matches with the Qatar U23 team, which are considered to be of very high quality, on October 9 and October 13 respectively.

These two matches help the team continue to perfect the squad, practice tactics and accumulate experience for the immediate goal of SEA Games 33 and then the 2026 AFC U23 Championship in Saudi Arabia.

At the 2026 AFC U23 Championship, U23 Vietnam is ranked in group 2 with U23 Qatar, so these two teams will certainly not meet in the group stage.

U23 Qatar is a strong team in Asia. Competing with this quality "blue team" will help young Vietnamese players have the necessary experience to better prepare for the two regional and continental competitions, taking place in two consecutive months: SEA Games 33 in December 2025 and U23 Asia 2026 in January next year.

As head coach Kim Sang-sik is leading the Vietnamese team to prepare for two matches against Nepal in the 2027 Asian Cup Qualifiers, the training and management of the U23 Vietnam team's training activities continues to be assigned to Acting Head Coach Dinh Hong Vinh.
