Do not back down in the face of difficulties

Mr. Le Van Lam, General Director of Dong Nai - Kratie Rubber Joint Stock Company, said that on January 29, 2008, VRG's Board of Directors approved the capital contribution plan to establish Dong Nai - Kratie Rubber Joint Stock Company. After that, the company was granted a certificate of establishment by the Ministry of Commerce of the Kingdom of Cambodia. In implementing that policy, the company is responsible for planting, caring for, exploiting, processing and consuming natural rubber latex in the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The rubber plantation project area of Dong Nai - Kratie Rubber Joint Stock Company is in 2 communes O'Kreang and Roluos Meanchey, Sambo district, Kratie province, which is the border area of Binh Phuoc province. From Hoa Lu border gate, by road about 200 km is the "capital" of rubber about 5,000 hectares in harvest period that VRG member unit invested in 15 years ago.

The pioneer force of Dong Nai - Kratie Rubber Joint Stock Company in the work of reclaiming new land in O'Kreang and Roluos Meanchey is 15 officers and employees from the parent company - Dong Nai Rubber Corporation (DNRC, under VRG) who were mobilized to be the core to undertake the task.

At that time, all living conditions were extremely difficult, most of the cadres did not know the Khmer language, the accommodation facilities were very poor, many people had to stay and work in temporary camps built with forest trees, the red dirt road to the project was severely damaged in many sections, making travel extremely difficult, especially in the rainy season. Communication was unstable; machinery for land reclamation and planting was lacking and when damaged, it took many days to fix, causing many difficulties for land reclamation and land preparation. Not discouraged by those difficulties and hardships, the leading cadres gradually set to work to shape the area of the garden over the years.

In 2008, Dong Nai - Kratie Rubber Joint Stock Company planted more than 71 hectares and with the experience gained, in 2009 planted more than 1,021 hectares; in 2010 more than 2,035 hectares; in 2011 more than 2,652 hectares; in 2012 more than 590 hectares. In 5 years (2008 - 2012), the company completed the reclamation work and planted more than 6,371 hectares; on average, more than 1,274 hectares were planted each year.

During the growing period, the garden encountered many difficulties such as hot and dry weather, soil, land (sand and gravel) and especially in the project, the garden was sunburned on a large area of more than 1,441 hectares, of which: in 2012, more than 78 hectares, in 2013, more than 151 hectares and in 2016, more than 1,211 hectares. The sunburn caused the area of the rubber garden to shrink to about 5,000 hectares.

Pioneering responsibility

"The biggest thing that remains after a 15-year journey full of challenges is that here, from a remote land with a sparse population, difficult life, and difficult transportation, but with the enthusiasm of Vietnamese staff and workers and the hard-working spirit of Cambodian workers; along with the close guidance of VRG and the enthusiastic support of the local government of the neighboring country, the company has completed the new planting plan, shaping the well-developed garden. Starting from 2016 - 2022, the company has gradually put the entire garden area into rubber latex exploitation", Mr. Le Van Lam shared.

During the process of developing and building a basic construction garden, Dong Nai - Kratie Rubber Joint Stock Company was awarded the emulation flag and many certificates of merit by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises, and VRG. After 15 years of construction and development, from a wild land with a sparse population, the company has now formed about 5,000 hectares of green rubber, with an average productivity of 1.7 tons of latex/ha/year (in 2021, latex output reached more than 7,000 tons, revenue of more than 274 billion VND; in 2022, more than 8,100 tons, revenue of more than 275 billion VND). The rolling mill, farm headquarters and workers' housing areas were built in combination with a convenient transportation system, with full electricity, telephone and internet. Mr. Le Van Lam shared: "The company's current status is the result of a difficult period in which everyone worked together and worked hard to build it."

In the land of pagodas - Cambodia, Dong Nai - Kratie Rubber Joint Stock Company has actively responded to local social and charitable activities, organized visits and gifts to disadvantaged workers' families, organized visits to workers and communities on holidays and traditional days of the Khmer people. At the same time, fulfilled the obligation to pay the budget in full to the host country.

In addition, Dong Nai - Kratie Rubber Joint Stock Company also contributes to local charity funds, the Red Cross in Cambodia; contributes to the construction of welfare works, and the construction of pagodas to serve the local community where the company is located. Thereby, it has created a closer relationship between the company and its workers and people, further strengthening the solidarity between Vietnam and Cambodia. (continued)

Contribute to the enhancement of friendship

After 94 years of continuous construction and development, the rubber area managed by VRG has reached nearly 402,650 hectares (domestic more than 288,101 hectares; in Cambodia about 90,000 hectares and in Laos about 27,000 hectares).

There is a common point in the country and neighboring countries Cambodia and Laos, rubber trees mainly grow in border areas, remote places, where economic and social conditions are still difficult. Land reclamation and rubber tree development is a task that always faces many challenges and hardships.

It is a matter of pride that the rubber industry in every period has had pioneers, continuing the industry's tradition of contributing to greening the border areas and maintaining border security...

In Cambodia alone, VRG currently has 16 member companies (total registered investment capital of nearly 1.8 billion USD) investing across 7 provinces (Kampong Thom, Kratie, Rattanakiri, Odor Meanchey, Preah Vihea, Siem Reap and Mondolkiri): Chu Se - Kampong Thom Rubber Joint Stock Company, Ba Ria - Kampong Thom Rubber Joint Stock Company, Tan Bien - Kampong Thom Rubber Joint Stock Company, Phuoc Hoa - Kampong Thom Rubber Joint Stock Company, Chu Pah - Kampong Thom Rubber Joint Stock Company, Mekong One Member Co., Ltd., Tay Ninh - Siem Reap Rubber Joint Stock Company, Hoang Anh Mang Yang K Rubber Joint Stock Company, Chu Prong - Stung Treng Rubber Joint Stock Company, Krong Buk - Rattanakiri Rubber Joint Stock Company, Mang Yang - Rattanakiri Rubber Joint Stock Company, Dau Tieng Kratie Rubber Joint Stock Company, Dau Tieng Cambodia Rubber Joint Stock Company, Dong Nai - Kratie Rubber Joint Stock Company, Dong Phu - Kratie Rubber Joint Stock Company and VKETI Company Limited.

Mr. Yim Chhayly, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Chairman of the Council for the Restoration and Development of Agriculture and Rural Development of Cambodia, highly appreciated the contributions of VRG in the socio-economic development of Cambodia. Up to now, rubber trees are a vivid evidence, contributing to the friendship, sustainable development cooperation, and mutual benefit between Vietnam and Cambodia.
