Why are "Southern Forest Land" and Ngoc Trinh absent from the Green Star Award nomination?

The Green Star Organizing Committee answered questions from the press about the absence of the film "Southern Forest Land" and Ngoc Trinh from the list of nominations for this award.

On December 12, the Green Star Awards Organizing Committee announced 291 nominations to compete in 3 categories: Cinema, Television and Web drama (online movies). This award honors artists with impressive roles and excellent movies at home and abroad.

Notably, the list of nominated films does not include Southern Forest Land (directed by Nguyen Quang Dung). Explaining this, the Organizing Committee said that the producer himself did not participate because he did not want to cause more trouble.

Mr. Dinh Trong Tuan - Chairman of the Art Council - revealed that he had discussed with the film's producer and director: "Recently, the film has been involved in many controversies. They said they want the controversies to stop. We respect this opinion."

In addition, the nomination for Best Actress voted by the art council (cinema category) also received attention with the competition of People's Artist Kim Xuan, Bao Ngoc Doling, Phuong Anh Dao, Le Giang, Uyen An, Minh Hang, Thu Trang and Kaity Nguyen.

Reporters asked why the movie Sister Sister 2 only had Minh Hang nominated for Best Actress and Most Favorite Actress while Ngoc Trinh also played the female lead role in the movie.

Regarding this issue, the Organizing Committee said that Minh Hang was rated higher for her acting, not for any other reason.

2023 marks the 10th anniversary of the Green Star Awards. This year's awards structure has 27 awards in 3 categories: Cinema (10 awards), Television (11 awards), Online Films (6 awards), no accompanying category and 2 additional awards for audience votes in the online film category.
