Escalating electricity and gasoline prices push CPI up 0.33% in September

According to Dak Lak Provincial Statistics, the consumer price index (CPI) in September 2025 in the province increased by 0.33% over the previous month, increased by 4.65% over the same period in 2024 and increased by 3.67% over December 2024.

Of the 11 groups of consumer goods and services, 9 groups increased in price and 2 groups decreased in price. The group with the biggest impact on the CPI in September was the housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials group, which increased by 1.49%, causing the overall CPI to increase by 0.23 percentage points. Of which, the price of household electricity increased by 2.59%, the actual rent increased by 1.96%. The transportation group increased by 0.73% due to the increase in gasoline price by 2.06%.

The garment, hat and footwear group increased by 0.39% due to increased shopping demand. Some other groups also recorded slight increases such as: household equipment and appliances (0.27%), other goods and services (0.14%), post and telecommunications (0.15%), culture - entertainment - tourism (0.1%), beverages and tobacco (0.13%), medicine and medical services (0.04%).

On the other hand, the food and catering services group decreased by 0.12%, mainly due to the decrease in rice prices following the export trend and the decrease in pork prices due to the fear of African swine fever. The education group also decreased by 0.02% after the peak month of shopping to prepare for the new school year.

In the third quarter of 2025, CPI increased by 4.81% compared to the same period in 2024, with the strongest increase in the group of medicines and medical services (15.66%) and the group of housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials (14.89%). On average, in the first 9 months of the year, CPI increased by 5.17%, reflecting the pressure on input costs, increased prices of medical services, housing and consumption.

According to relevant agencies, the Government and ministries are closely monitoring price developments, especially gasoline and input material prices, and flexibly operating stabilization tools to limit adverse impacts on people's lives and production and business activities.
