The Supreme People's Procuracy reports to the National Assembly on the case of Mr. Pips and Sisters of the Basket Company.

The Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Procuracy recently sent a report to the National Assembly on the work of the prosecution sector in the 6 months, from October 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025.

Statistics show that although crime has decreased, the level of crime is becoming more and more serious, with sophisticated methods and tricks.

Mr Tips and Chi Em Rot are typical cases.

The report emphasizes the complexity of criminal groups that take advantage of cyberspace to defraud and appropriate property, with collusion between subjects inside and outside the state. A typical example is the case of Tiktoker "Mr Pips" - Pho Duc Nam, an influencer on social networks. Nam and 25 other defendants were prosecuted for fraud, failure to report crimes, and money laundering with a total of more than 5,000 billion VND.

Along with that are crimes related to waste in investment and construction; crimes in finance, banking, securities, corporate bonds, taxes... The case of producing fake food products and deceiving customers that occurred at Asia Life Joint Stock Company and Chi Em Rot Group Joint Stock Company (related to Quang Linh Vlog and Hang "nomad") is one of the typical examples cited by the Supreme People's Procuracy.

Regarding crimes against social order, the report said that 14,414 cases were prosecuted (down 8%). There were many cases of brutal violations of life and health, crimes of human trafficking, and trafficking of newborns on the internet with complicated developments, organized and transnational activities; many violations of fire prevention and fighting regulations caused particularly serious consequences.

Notably, 476 corruption and position cases (up 1.7%) were prosecuted. Many cases were large-scale, extremely serious, involving ministries, branches, and localities; there was even close, sophisticated collusion between state officials and private companies and enterprises.

Regarding crimes against judicial activities, 31 cases were prosecuted (down 13.8%), mainly related to acts of bribery, abuse of position and power to appropriate property, embezzlement of property...

Many police, prosecutors and court officials were prosecuted for corruption.

The report of the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Procuracy also mentioned the criminal investigation work of the Supreme People's Procuracy Investigation Agency.

Specifically, the Supreme People's Procuracy's Investigation Agency received 2,568 information on crimes; processed and resolved 2,352 information (91.6%); accepted and resolved 88 sources of information on crimes; and resolved 63 sources of information (71.6%).

Many cases and defendants in investigation agencies, prosecutors' offices, and courts have been prosecuted and investigated for crimes of violating judicial activities and corruption in judicial activities.

Typical cases include the case of Ngo Quoc Hung, former Deputy Chief Justice of the People's Procuracy of Phu Binh District (Thai Nguyen), for accepting bribes; the case of Pham Viet Cuong, former Deputy Chief Justice of the High People's Court in Da Nang , for accepting bribes; the case of Nguyen Huy Loi, former officer of Department A05 of the Ministry of Public Security, for abusing his position and power to appropriate property...

The report also shows that the rate of investigation and discovery of crimes by the Supreme People's Procuracy Investigation Agency reached 93.8% (exceeding 23.8%); the rate of investigation and discovery of very serious and especially serious crimes reached 97.8% (exceeding 7.8%); 16,116 billion VND was recovered, reaching 87% (exceeding 27%); investigation activities were in accordance with legal regulations, without any injustice or mistakes.

Through the investigation activities, the Supreme People's Procuracy's Investigation Agency has issued 36 recommendations requesting the judicial agencies to handle and prevent violations and crimes occurring in judicial activities. All recommendations have been accepted and implemented.

According to the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Procuracy, the above results have promptly prevented and handled violations occurring in judicial activities, contributing to rectifying activities and ensuring the integrity of judicial agencies.
