Vietnam-Belarus: Together bringing the new framework of relations into depth

On the evening of June 26, in Hanoi, the Belarusian Embassy in Vietnam held a solemn reception to celebrate the 34th anniversary of Belarus' National Day (July 3, 1991 - July 3, 2025).

Attending the event were Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang; Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army; representatives of Vietnamese ministries and branches; Ambassadors and representatives of embassies of countries in Vietnam, as well as a large number of Vietnamese people who have lived, studied and worked in Belarus.

In a friendly atmosphere, on behalf of the Vietnamese Government , Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang congratulated the delegates and, through Belarusian Ambassador to Vietnam Uladzimir Baravikou, sent warm congratulations to the leaders and people of Belarus on this important holiday.

Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang emphasized that Vietnam and Belarus are traditional friends, always close and accompanying each other in important moments of each nation's history. The friendship between the two countries has been nurtured over many generations and today continues to be strengthened with new, stronger and more practical developments.

The two countries' official establishment of a strategic partnership during General Secretary To Lam's visit to Belarus last May was a historic milestone, reflecting high political trust and shared aspirations for a future of comprehensive and effective cooperation.

Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang expressed her belief that with joint efforts and political determination from both sides, the two countries will deepen the new relationship framework, bringing practical benefits to the people of both countries.

The Deputy Minister expressed his thanks and appreciation for the active role and valuable contributions of Ambassador Uladzimir Baravikou and the Belarusian Embassy in Vietnam for always accompanying, proactively coordinating and playing an important bridging role in strengthening the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Belarus.

Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang expressed her belief that the Vietnam-Belarus relationship will develop more strongly in the coming time. The two countries have much potential for cooperation that has not yet been fully exploited, but promises many opportunities for both sides.

Belarus has strengths in the fields of manufacturing industry, machinery, chemicals, medical equipment, green agriculture, science and technology and basic training - areas that Vietnam is in great need of to serve the modernization process, develop infrastructure, transition to a green economy and improve the quality of human resources.

The two countries can completely complement each other, serve the development goals of each country, contribute to peace and prosperity of the two regions and the world. With the support of ministries, branches, localities and businesses of both sides, and the advantages from the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), the Vietnam-Belarus cooperation relationship will have many more steps of strong, practical and sustainable development in the coming time.

“Vietnam always appreciates the sincere feelings that Belarus has given to the country and people of Vietnam over the past decades. Maintaining and developing this good relationship, based on trust and mutual understanding, is the desire and aspiration of the people of the two countries and our responsibility,” Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang emphasized.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Uladzimir Baravikou noted that 2025 is a special year, the two countries celebrate bright milestones in their shared history. These are the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of South Vietnam and national reunification, the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War, the 135th anniversary of the birth of Ho Chi Minh, and the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day. Each of these events holds profound and lasting significance for the people of Belarus and Vietnam.

Ambassador Uladzimir Baravikou expressed his pleasure at witnessing the dynamic development of mutually beneficial cooperation in many fields, reinforced by long-standing traditional friendship and mutual understanding tested by time.

The Ambassador stressed that the achievements of Vietnam, a long-standing friend and partner of Belarus, have opened another door of opportunities for bilateral cooperation. Cooperation in the fields of innovation, agriculture, technology exchange, industrial cooperation and mutual investment will become the driving force for further strengthening the level of Strategic Partnership between the two countries, which was noted during the visit of General Secretary To Lam to Belarus, and during the meeting of the General Secretary with President of Belarus AG Lukashenko.

According to the Ambassador, in the context of world fluctuations, the solidarity, understanding and mutual support between partners and friends that have been tested over time are more important than ever. In 2025, the two countries will become BRICS partners.

Belarus is a member of the Eurasian Economic Union, which has had a free trade agreement with Vietnam for the past 10 years. This year, Belarus holds the role of Chairman of the Union. Vietnam plays an important role in ASEAN, and its position in the Association is constantly increasing.

Expanding cooperation on international platforms, taking advantage of each other's strengths in areas of common interest will contribute further and significantly to ensuring peace, prosperity and security in the region and around the world.

Ambassador Uladzimir Baravikou affirmed that the two countries have all necessary conditions to continue expanding cooperation and deepening the Belarus-Vietnam Strategic Partnership, and will always be loyal friends and reliable partners.
