The ceremony was attended by about 400 guests, including Mr. Anatoly Aleksandrovich Sivak, Deputy Prime Minister representing the Government of Belarus, representatives of the two houses of the National Assembly, ministries, branches and localities; Heads of diplomatic missions, international organizations in Minsk, the business community and a large number of Vietnamese people living, studying and working in Belarus. In particular, the ceremony was attended by generations of Belarusian veterans who were present in Vietnam during the resistance war for national reunification of our people.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Nguyen Van Trung recalled the important historical milestone when President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to Vietnam. The Ambassador emphasized that the truth "Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom" of President Ho Chi Minh has become a compass, a source of invaluable spiritual strength for our nation to overcome all sacrifices and hardships, protect and build the country, innovate and integrate into the world as it is today.
The Ambassador affirmed that Vietnam always appreciates the solidarity and valuable support of international friends, including the Belarusian people. In particular, the two countries had a historic turning point in the State visit of General Secretary To Lam to Belarus in May 2025, elevating the bilateral relationship to a Strategic Partnership, commensurate with the country's position, in line with the tradition of friendship and long-term cooperation between the two peoples, opening a new period of partnership in the new era.
On behalf of the Government of Belarus, Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Aleksandrovich Sivak expressed his pride in reviewing the glorious and heroic history of the Vietnamese people in the struggle for independence, freedom and national unification, in which Belarus (in the former Soviet Union) made worthy contributions. He affirmed that Vietnam has always been Belarus' top priority partner in the Southeast Asian region.

The Deputy Prime Minister appreciated the long-standing friendship between the people of the two countries, which has been further nurtured through active exchanges at all levels, including high-level ones, mutual support at international forums and especially "people's diplomacy" activities. He assessed that the visit of General Secretary To Lam and the signing of the Joint Statement on the establishment of the Strategic Partnership was a historic milestone, demonstrating a high level of political trust, bringing bilateral relations to a new height. The Deputy Prime Minister pledged that Belarus will make every effort to effectively implement the agreements between the two countries' high-ranking leaders, for the benefit and prosperity of the two peoples.
Many Belarusian friends also expressed their solidarity, attachment and admiration for the Vietnamese people, sincerely wishing the country and people of Vietnam to continue to gain more proud victories on the path of building the country and defending the Fatherland.

At the solemn reception, the Vietnamese community in Belarus brought many special performances and unique traditional dishes to introduce to international friends. In particular, the singing of the national anthems of the two countries by Vietnamese students, born and raised in Belarus, and the dance performance "Around Vietnam" by the female dance team caused strong emotions and brought a joyful and proud atmosphere to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the country's Independence.

In addition to the diplomatic reception, the Vietnamese Embassy in Belarus also organized an exhibition about the country and people of Vietnam and the historical journey of solidarity, friendship and cooperation between the people of the two countries.
Previously, the Vietnamese Embassy in Belarus also organized a meeting with the Vietnamese community on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day and the Belarusian Friendship Association organized a ceremony to celebrate Vietnam's National Day at the Belarusian House of Friendship with all peoples.
