Vietnam won 5 medals at the 2024 International Physics Olympiad

According to information from the Ministry of Education and Training on the official results of the Vietnamese national team participating in the International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) 2024 held in Iran, the Vietnamese team participating in IPhO 2024 includes 5 students. As a result, all 5 students won medals, including: 2 Gold Medals, 3 Silver Medals.

Specifically, the 2 Gold Medals won by the Vietnamese team at IPhO 2024 belong to 2 students studying in grade 12 at Bac Giang High School for the Gifted, Bac Giang Province: Than The Cong and Truong Phi Hung.

The 3 Silver Medals of IPhO 2024 of the Vietnamese team belong to: Nguyen Nhat Minh, grade 12 student, High School for Gifted Students of Natural Sciences , University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Ha Duyen Phuc, grade 12 student, Lam Son High School for Gifted Students, Thanh Hoa Province; and Nguyen Thanh Duy, grade 12 student, Tran Phu High School for Gifted Students, Hai Phong City.

Vietnam national team to compete in the International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) 2024

The 54th International Physics Olympiad was held in Iran from July 21 to July 29.

According to the regulations of the IPhO Council 2024, the exam consists of 1 theoretical exam and 1 practical exam. Each exam lasts 5 hours. This year's exam is considered interesting and difficult, the content of the theoretical and practical exams are closely related to real life and touch on the applications of modern science and technology. To achieve the Gold Medal, candidates must be in the top 8% of candidates with the highest scores.

With 100% of students winning medals, including 2 Gold Medals and 3 Silver Medals, the Vietnamese delegation is among the countries with the highest results at the 2024 International Physics Olympiad.

This year's results are also better than in 2023 (in 2023, the Vietnamese team won 2 Gold Medals, 2 Silver Medals and 1 Bronze Medal). This year, the practical exam scores of Vietnamese students have improved significantly compared to the AphO and IPhO exams in recent years.

The outstanding achievements of the Vietnamese national team at IPhO 2024 continue to affirm the quality of general education . At the same time, it affirms the right direction in the work of discovering, selecting and nurturing excellent students of the Ministry of Education and Training.
