On June 10, in response to a reporter's question asking for comment on the statement of the Spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on June 6 regarding the activities of the Chinese survey ship group Xiangyanghong 10, Spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang affirmed:
"As repeatedly affirmed, Vietnam has sufficient legal basis and historical evidence to assert its sovereignty over the Truong Sa and Hoang Sa archipelagos."

According to Ms. Pham Thu Hang, the legal status of the Truong Sa archipelago as well as its entities have been clearly defined under the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
"The sovereignty, sovereign rights and jurisdiction over a country's maritime zones established in accordance with the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea as well as the legitimate and legal rights and interests of coastal countries, including Vietnam, must be respected.
This demonstrates the sense of responsibility, constructiveness and practical contributions of relevant countries to peace, stability, cooperation and rule of law in the region, including the East Sea region," Ms. Pham Thu Hang emphasized.
