According to a VNA correspondent in Mexico, since its inception in 1996, the annual International Conference “Political Parties and a New Society”, organized by the PT Party, has served as a bridge for global left-wing forces to share information on the situation of parties and countries, on issues of common concern, and is also a place for parties to exchange measures for coordinated action, contributing to promoting the common struggle for peace , national independence, democracy, cooperation, development and social progress. This year’s conference brings together representatives of hundreds of political parties, social movements and progressive mass organizations from more than 40 countries across all continents.
During the discussion sessions, many delegates expressed deep concern about the current world situation, when armed conflicts are increasing, the global political and security situation is rapidly shifting towards multipolarity and multi-center. The conference also expressed strong international solidarity with the Palestinian people, called for an immediate end to military attacks, and affirmed the right of all peoples to live in peace.
Speaking at the plenary session, Head of the delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam Quan Minh Cuong emphasized that in the context of the world undergoing profound changes, from armed conflicts, fierce strategic competition, to increasingly clear polarization of interests, communist parties and international left-wing movements continue to affirm their irreplaceable position in global political life, witnessing new positive developments, but also facing many unprecedented challenges.
Mr. Quan Minh Cuong affirmed that the Latin American left-wing movement has never had such an important influence as it does today, when it has become a strong counterweight political force to the conservative trend and the imposition of the great powers. On behalf of the Communist Party of Vietnam, he respectfully thanked the communist, workers' and progressive left-wing political parties in the world for always accompanying, supporting and cooperating with Vietnam in the past cause of national liberation and reunification, as well as in the cause of innovation, construction and protection of the Fatherland today.
The head of the Vietnamese delegation also stated: “In the face of epochal changes, the Party and State of Vietnam are implementing revolutionary policies, considering it the Party's historical mission, a declaration of vision and political mettle. Vietnam wishes to continue to receive the companionship, support and cooperation of progressive political parties, for a world of peace, justice, solidarity and sustainable development."
Evaluating the speech of the Vietnamese delegation, Ms. Efigenia Witt Ortega, representative of the We Are the Fatherland Party of Ecuador, said that the content of the speech and the presence and active participation of the Vietnamese delegation continued to affirm Vietnam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization and diversification, while contributing to deepening the solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and the left-wing and progressive movement in the world.
At the conference, the presentations of left-wing parties in the Latin American region attracted much attention. Ms. Tania Valentina Díaz, Vice President in charge of international relations of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), affirmed that the left-wing movement needs to maintain its stance of independence and national sovereignty, considering it the foundation for freedom, justice and sustainable development. Meanwhile, the Cuban delegate emphasized that international solidarity is the strongest weapon against imperialism, while affirming the steadfastness in protecting the achievements of the revolution and current socio-economic reforms.
The Palestinian Ambassador to Mexico received strong support for his speech, calling on the international community to increase pressure to end what he described as “war crimes” against the Palestinian people. Many delegates agreed that the protection of peace, human rights and international justice is the focus of the left-wing movement in the current period.
During the conference, Mr. Quan Minh Cuong met with General Secretary of the Mexican Labor Party (PT) Alberto Anaya Gutiérrez. In a friendly atmosphere, General Secretary Gutiérrez expressed his admiration for Vietnam's achievements in 40 years of Doi Moi, and proposed measures to strengthen relations between the two parties and the two governments in the coming time.
For his part, Mr. Quan Minh Cuong thanked the General Secretary and the Mexican Labor Party for their warm and thoughtful welcome to the delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam, highly appreciating the very useful exchanges and discussions, suggesting many experiences in developing the country. According to the Secretary of the Cao Bang Provincial Party Committee, the Communist Party of Vietnam is actively preparing for the 14th Congress, in which human resources are identified as the foundation, science - technology and innovation are breakthroughs to bring the country into a new era, an era of national development.
Regarding the relationship on the party channel, Mr. Quan Minh Cuong thanked and appreciated the Mexican Labor Party's cooperation and support for Vietnam in many fields over the years, especially in publishing books and documents introducing Vietnam's heroic history of struggle and achievements in national renovation, considering this a vivid manifestation of the close relationship between the two parties.
Also within the framework of the visit to Mexico and attending the International Conference "Political Parties and a New Society", on the same day, Mr. Quan Minh Cuong and the delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam had a working session with Ms. Carolina Rangel Gracida, General Secretary of the ruling National Reconstruction Movement (Morena) Party, Ms. Sofia Carvajal - Head of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), had meetings with the delegation of the Communist Party of Cuba, Ms. Tania Diaz, Politburo member, Vice President of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), leader of the ruling Broad Front (FA) in the Republic of Uruguay, met with the President of the Bolivian Senate and General Secretary of the Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front (FMLN) of El Salvador.
Before that, the delegation worked with the Vietnamese Embassy in Mexico, offering flowers at the President Ho Chi Minh Monument in the National Freedom Park in the center of Mexico City. Built in 2009, based on a photo taken by artist Dinh Dang Dinh when he was working in the garden of the Presidential Palace, the President Ho Chi Minh Monument is a symbol of the friendship and solidarity between the two peoples of Vietnam and Mexico.
