According to data from the Customs Department, in July 2025 alone, export turnover reached 379 million USD, up 35.4% compared to the previous month. China continued to be the largest market, accounting for more than 87% with a value of over 1 billion USD, but down 28% compared to the same period.
Many other markets increased sharply, such as Hong Kong (China) imported nearly 35 million USD, up 85%; Taiwan (China), the US, and Japan all increased by double digits. Except for Thailand, which decreased by 49%, the remaining markets increased imports from 14 - 1,000%.
Enterprises said that export activities in the first half of the year faced many difficulties due to control procedures in China, causing many shipments to be delayed. However, the situation has now become more favorable, and even companies that had not been able to export any shipments before have resumed exporting.
Mr. Dang Phuc Nguyen, General Secretary of the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association, said that durian exports are growing well again, especially in mainland China, Taiwan, the US and Hong Kong. During the upcoming peak season (September - October), the turnover could reach 500 - 550 million USD/month.
However, according to him, durian prices are unlikely to return to their peak in 2023-2024 because global supply is abundant. In addition to Thailand and Vietnam, many other countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia and Laos also participate in official exports to China.
One positive point is that Vietnamese businesses have better control over technical indicators such as yellow O or cadmium - factors that used to cause goods to be returned. Many companies require growers and traders to test the quality before purchasing, helping to increase the customs clearance rate.
The Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association expects that in the last months of the year, fruit and vegetable exports will continue to be positive, especially in key products such as frozen durian, coconut... Total turnover for the year could reach 7 billion USD, approaching last year's level.
