Vietnam Airlines puts Son La plums on in-flight menu

From June 16, Vietnam Airlines will serve Son La plum specialties on many domestic and international flights departing from Hanoi, helping passengers experience Northwest summer cuisine right at an altitude of 10,000m.

On business class flights from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Phu Quoc, as well as international routes to Europe, Australia, Japan and South Korea, Vietnam Airlines will serve fresh plums with salted apricots instead of dessert on the tray.

For business class flights from Hanoi to other domestic and international routes, passengers will be served a welcome drink of plum tea, instead of the usual fresh fruit juice.

In addition, passengers flying flexible economy and premium economy classes from Hanoi to Europe, Australia, Japan, and Korea are also served fresh plums.

By bringing plum specialties to the in-flight dining tray, Vietnam Airlines once again affirms its role as "ambassador of Vietnamese cuisine and culture" on flights, accompanying Vietnamese agricultural products to reach the world .

Vietnam Airlines applies a strict selection process, all plums served to passengers meet VietGAP standards, meeting the criteria of weight, juiciness, and harmonious sweet and sour taste; are preserved, transported and processed according to a strictly monitored process, ensuring food hygiene and safety and maintaining freshness when enjoyed at high altitude.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Son La province, said: "Son La province is proud that its agricultural products have proven their quality and brand to be distributed and available on Vietnam Airlines flights. The cooperation with Vietnam Airlines has a great impact, helping Son La agricultural products get closer to domestic and international consumers, especially in the context of promoting exports and enhancing the national brand."

Mr. Dang Anh Tuan, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines said: “We always put quality and passenger experience first. Bringing Son La plums to in-flight meals is not only a menu innovation, but also a way for us to introduce the quintessence of Vietnamese agricultural products to international friends.”

With a temperate climate and unique soil, Son La is considered the “plum capital” of Vietnam, with a total cultivated area of ​​over 14,500 hectares, this year's output is estimated at 100,000 tons. Son La plums have the characteristics of thin skin, crispy flesh, sweet and slightly sour taste, and are a popular summer specialty in many domestic and international markets.

In addition to fresh fruit products, Son La plums can also be processed into plum jam, dried plums, syrup, plum wine, etc., helping to increase product value and extend the consumption chain after the season.

The program of adding plums to the in-flight menu is part of Vietnam Airlines' annual strategy, aiming to diversify culinary experiences and support the promotion of regional agricultural products.

Previously, Vietnam Airlines made its mark with unique Vietnamese agricultural products such as Hung Yen longan, Thanh Ha lychee, Cao Phong orange, Moc Chau strawberry, etc., which were highly appreciated by domestic and foreign passengers.
