Vietnam Airlines and the “journey of memories” recreating the history of flight attendant uniforms

From May 19 to 25, Vietnam Airlines will recreate the flight attendant uniforms of different eras on some special flights between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hue, Singapore, Incheon (South Korea) and Haneda (Japan).

Special flights take passengers back in time, experiencing a part of Vietnam Airlines ' historical story, from the first days of take-off to its current strong position on the world aviation map.

On special flights, passengers enjoyed a display of Vietnam Airlines flight attendant uniforms from 1975 to present and received special gifts as a thank you for accompanying the airline for the past 30 years.

In the early 1990s, the traditional Ao Dai was used as the official uniform for the first time, marking an important milestone in shaping the airline's own cultural identity. At this time, the shirt and midi skirt uniform was used on domestic flights while the blue Ao Dai was worn on international flights, demonstrating the role of the National Airline in bringing Vietnamese culture closer to friends around the world.

Passengers were delighted to receive special gifts and take photos with flight attendants in Vietnam Airlines uniforms of different eras.

In the early years of the Vietnam Civil Aviation industry, flight attendant uniforms were simple but dignified, consisting of a white shirt combined with dark blue trousers. This design represented the discipline, neatness and elegance typical of the pioneers in the sky.

In 1994, the pink ao dai became the only uniform for female flight attendants of Vietnam Airlines. The uniform creates elegance, honoring the beauty of women and Vietnamese culture.

Each uniform is a vivid symbol of the strong development of Vietnam Airlines.

Launched in 2015, the current uniform with two colors of turquoise and yellow is a strategic step in the brand identity of Vietnam Airlines - a friendly, elegant and Vietnamese image. The innovative Ao Dai design is a harmonious combination of tradition and modernity, ensuring convenience in the working environment in the air. This uniform model has helped Vietnam Airlines enter the Top 3 awards "Airline with the most beautiful uniform in the world " by Cabin Crew 2024.

Recreating flight attendant uniforms through the ages gives customers the opportunity to look back at the stages in Vietnam Airlines' development journey.
