The foundation for a new strategy

On September 15, the People's Committee of Vinh Long province organized a scientific workshop on "Identifying the potential, advantages and development orientation of Vinh Long province in the period 2025-2030, vision 2045". The workshop was connected online to 124 points of communes, wards and towns, attracting a large number of leaders, experts, managers and the business community to attend.

The event is considered an important milestone to help comprehensively recognize the potential and strengths after the merger; at the same time, analyze the limitations, "bottlenecks" and challenges of Vinh Long in the new development stage. This is also a forum to listen to enthusiastic contributions, thereby proposing breakthrough solutions, suitable to practical requirements.

Positioning advantages, aiming for sustainable growth

The workshop took place with two in-depth working sessions. The first session focused on the topic "Identifying the potential, strengths, and competitive advantages of Vinh Long province". The presentations revolved around key contents: Determining the coordinates of growth breakthroughs after the merger; selecting industries and fields with development advantages, attracting strategic investors; shaping the development space for the period 2025-2030, vision 2050; and solutions to promote digital transformation in the operation of two-level government. These are considered the keys to open new approaches in exploiting advantages and promoting sustainable growth.

The second session discussed “Orientation for development of Vinh Long province in the period 2025-2030, vision 2050”, emphasizing the role of intra-regional and inter-regional economic connectivity, dynamic urban development, as well as spatial linkages, industry clusters, and fields to create new momentum. These orientations contribute to outlining the long-term roadmap, while affirming the importance of connecting Vinh Long with the Mekong Delta and the Southern region in the integration process.

Speaking at the workshop, Chairman of Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee Lu Quang Ngoi emphasized: The merger of the three provinces of Vinh Long, Ben Tre and Tra Vinh into a unified administrative unit is not only an expansion of the territory, but also a strategic decision of historical significance, opening up a new, large development space with many opportunities.

On that basis, the province has identified four main development pillars : Marine economy and renewable energy; ecological agriculture, high technology; connecting infrastructure and logistics; cultural heritage combined with human resource development. According to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Vinh Long province, these are not individual potentials, but a system with resonance and mutual support, creating a combined strength towards rapid and sustainable development. In particular, cultural heritage and human resources are considered an important foundation for building identity and promoting cultural industry - a strategic pillar to help Vinh Long participate more deeply in the global creative network.

Challenges and aspirations of integration

Besides the advantages, Vinh Long also faces many challenges. The merger poses high requirements for governance, resource coordination, and administrative system synchronization. Competition between localities in attracting investment, the impact of climate change, environmental pressure, and the need for comprehensive digital transformation are major issues. Therefore, this workshop is of special importance, considered as the foundation for building a comprehensive development strategy in the new period.

At the workshop, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Vinh Long province highly appreciated the delegates' opinions and enthusiastic discussions and affirmed: "The province will seriously absorb and consider this an important basis for planning a suitable and feasible development strategy, contributing to building a dynamic, unique, highly competitive and sustainable Vinh Long in the coming period".

The workshop is not only a place for scientific exchange, but also a bridge between the government, experts, businesses and the community, creating consensus and common determination. The proposed solutions will be an important basis and argument to realize the aspiration of building Vinh Long into a dynamic economic - cultural - social center of the Mekong Delta, while reaching out to the international level.

With a methodical strategy, a clear roadmap, and the support of the government, businesses and the community, Vinh Long is gradually realizing the goal of becoming a class I city by 2030 and joining the UNESCO Creative Cities Network by 2035 , affirming its new position on the global creative map.
