Commendation of 95 Outstanding Farmers and Scientists of Farmers in 2025

In the series of activities celebrating the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Farmers' Association (October 14, 1930 - October 14, 2025), the Ceremony to honor and award the title of Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer and the title of Farmer Scientist in 2025, scheduled to take place on October 14 in Hanoi, is an important highlight of the Vietnam Farmers' Pride Program in 2025.

The event aims to recognize and honor new generation farmers who have achieved outstanding achievements in production, business, new rural construction, and national security protection movements; honor scientists whose scientific initiatives and inventions have been applied and brought high socio-economic efficiency in agricultural production activities. The program is organized by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union , and implemented by the Today's Rural Newspaper/Dan Viet in coordination with sponsoring units.

The Organizing Committee said that 63 of the best Vietnamese farmers this year were selected from 100 nominations from provinces and cities. In addition, 32 of the most outstanding scientists representing research, transfer and application groups were selected from 49 nominations through the channels of the Vietnam Farmers' Association, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment , the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, etc.

Sharing about the number of 95 outstanding individuals selected for recognition, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union Bui Thi Thom, Head of the Program Organizing Committee, said: 95 outstanding Vietnamese Farmers, Scientists of Farmers in 2025 symbolize the 95-year journey of formation, construction and development of the Vietnam Farmers' Union. The Organizing Committee's decision to award the title to both outstanding farmers and scientists of farmers demonstrates the organic, close connection between "two houses": farmers and scientists; between research and transfer on one side and application and production on the other. In particular, with the Politburo issuing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and digital transformation, honoring scientists who have made important contributions to farmers on this occasion is even more meaningful.

According to the Organizing Committee, the farmer with the highest revenue this year is Mr. Ho Phi Thuy, from Phu Quoc special zone, An Giang province, with a pearl farming model combined with eco-tourism on a scale of 1,000 hectares, harvesting about 320,000 pearls each year, bringing in an impressive revenue of 95 to 150 billion VND.

Ranked second in revenue is Mr. Nguyen Chi Linh, residing in Bo Cang hamlet, Long Dien commune, Ca Mau province, with a white-leg shrimp farming model, achieving revenue of about 90 billion VND/year.

Notably, the youngest face on the list of Outstanding Vietnamese Farmers in 2025 is Mr. Nguyen Tung Duong, 25 years old (Lang Chanh village, Tam Duong Bac commune, Phu Tho province), with a model of producing yellow flower tea combined with trading seedlings. Mr. Duong earns a profit of about 1.2 billion VND per year, becoming a typical example of a generation of dynamic and creative young farmers.

Meanwhile, the oldest farmer honored was Mr. Chu Van Sam, 77 years old (residing in Dong Danh village, An Nghia commune, Phu Tho province), with a dairy cow farming model combined with agricultural business services, bringing in profits of up to 1.4 billion VND/year.

Among the 32 Farmer Scientists honored in 2025, the youngest is Mr. Nguyen Khanh Toan, 35 years old (born in 1990, Tay ethnic group), currently working at the Center for Science and Technology (Department of Science and Technology of Lang Son province); the oldest scientist is Professor, Doctor Mai Van Quyen, Chairman of the Science and Technology Council of Binh Dien Fertilizer Joint Stock Company, 87 years old (born in 1938). This year, many scientists have good inventions and innovations such as: Invention of an automatic cassava cutting machine using solar energy by Mr. Pham Van Thanh (Krong Pa, Gia Lai); invention of a mouse trap that does not need bait and a crescent-shaped bird repeller by Mr. Tran Quang Thieu, Executive Committee Member of the Vietnam Mechanical Engineering Association from Thuong Tin (Hanoi); intensive crab farming model by Mr. Nguyen Viet Bac (Ca Mau)...

In the series of events of the 2025 Vietnamese Farmers' Pride Program, the 95th Anniversary of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, the 6th Patriotic Emulation Congress of the Vietnam Farmers' Union and the Ceremony to receive the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces during the resistance war against the US, saving the country for the Farmers' Association of Zone V will be held on the morning of October 14, in Hanoi. The ceremony to honor and award the title of Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer, Scientist of Farmers in 2025 will be held on the evening of October 14, in Hanoi and will be broadcast live on Vietnam Television.
