VnExpress Marathon Quy Nhon 2023 awards more than one billion VND in prizes

Binh Dinh Organizing Committee announced and awarded 102 prizes, totaling over one billion VND to athletes with high results at VnExpress Marathon Quy Nhon, on the morning of June 11.

The VnExpress Marathon Quy Nhon 2023 awards ceremony took place at 10am, after 10,000 runners had completed the race. The overall performance level has increased significantly, including the appearance of international runners from Kenya and Ethiopia, making the competition even more difficult.

After verifying the results, the organizing committee announced 102 awards for outstanding athletes. The awards are divided between professional and amateur categories, with equal value, including cash, Garmin watches and shopping vouchers from the Nike brand.

The male and female champions will receive a total prize worth 35.2 million VND. The second prize is worth 22.2 million VND and the third prize is 19.2 million VND.

The half marathon has three overall prizes. The first prize is 25.2 million VND, the second prize is 17 million VND and the third prize is 12 million VND. The 10km distance has three categories of first, second and third prizes, with total values of 9 million VND, 7 million VND and 5.5 million VND respectively. The three prizes for the 5km distance are 8 million VND, 6 million VND and 4 million VND.

The rule to be in the top 3 finalists is that the athlete does not violate the general rules of the tournament. For men, the result must be under 2 hours 45 minutes and for women, it must be under 3 hours 10 minutes. The result is calculated by Gun Time.

This year, the full marathon final applies a new rule for international athletes. Foreign male runners with a time under 2 hours 30 minutes and female runners with a time under 2 hours 50 minutes will be considered professional athletes. If they do not meet this requirement, the organizers will transfer the results to the age category. The rule does not apply to amateur athletes.

VnExpress Marathon Sparkling Quy Nhon 2023 starts at 3am on June 11, with the 42km distance starting first. The 21, 10, and 5km distances start at 4am, 4:30am, and 4:45am, respectively. The early start time, calculated after many tests, will help athletes reduce the impact of the heat and avoid crowded sections when sprinting.
