Vietnam Vovinam changes in the chairmanship

The Vietnam Vovinam Federation (VVF) held an extraordinary conference to elect a new president after businessman Mai Huu Tin resigned.

On the morning of July 29, an extraordinary meeting of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Vovinam Federation (VVF) took place in Ho Chi Minh City to consider the resignation of businessman Mai Huu Tin from the position of president and to elect a new president.

Accordingly, martial arts master Tran Van My - Vice President of VVF, Chief of Vovinam Viet Vo Dao sect was elected by the conference as President of VVF for the 4th term (2023-2028).

Speaking at the conference, businessman Mai Huu Tin shared: "In 2017, I accepted the invitation of the late martial arts master Nguyen Van Chieu and Mr. Le Quoc An to take on the position of VVF president as a sponsor and liaison with domestic and international authorities.

Now I resign from the position of VVF president to focus entirely on my duties as president of the World Vovinam Federation (WVVF) with the goal of spreading Vietnamese martial arts more strongly internationally and towards the Olympics.

The election of martial arts master Tran Van My as VVF president is appropriate as the head of the sect will be the head of VVF to have a voice of solidarity and to manage domestic movement activities more strongly."

In his speech accepting the position of VVF president, martial arts master Tran Van My expressed his deep gratitude for the great contributions of businessman Mai Huu Tin to the strong development of Vovinam domestically and internationally.

He said: "In the past 8 years, since Dr. Mai Huu Tin held the position of VVF president, the position of Vovinam domestically and internationally has been stabilized and raised to a new height. The Vovinam movement has grown stronger when Mr. Mai Huu Tin created solidarity among martial artists as well as the federation's executive board.

Over the years, President Mai Huu Tin has used his personal financial resources to sponsor Vovinam activities domestically and internationally, which are extremely great contributions. Hopefully, focusing on the role of President of WVVF will help Vovinam develop even more strongly."
