(Dan Tri) - Ha Trung District ( Thanh Hoa ) has requested the locality to assign forces to inspect and supervise the suspension of stone mining in the area where a cave with many stalactites and relics of historical and cultural value was discovered.
On October 31, speaking with Dan Tri reporter, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dung, Vice Chairman of Ha Trung District People's Committee, said that he had signed an official dispatch to stop mineral exploitation activities in Dun Mountain area, Ha Long commune of Tien Thinh Company Limited.
This move was made after Mr. Do Minh Tuan, Chairman of Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, directed to stop mineral exploitation activities in Dun mountain area, Ha Long commune, Ha Trung district.

The People's Committee of Ha Trung District requested Tien Thinh Company Limited to completely stop mineral exploitation activities in the Dun Mountain area. This area was granted a mineral exploitation license and land lease by the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee since December 22, 2014.
According to Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dung, the reason for the suspension is for competent authorities to complete procedures for zoning off protected historical relics and scenic spots and delineating prohibited areas, temporarily banning mineral activities.
According to Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dung, since the discovery of the cave at Dun Mountain (April), the licensed unit has complied with the directive to temporarily stop mining activities. Up to now, Thanh Hoa province has directed to completely stop stone mining here so that specialized agencies and researchers can survey and evaluate the cultural values and archaeological sites in the cave.
Ha Trung District People's Committee assigned Ha Long Commune People's Committee to notify the direction of Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee and Ha Trung District for Tien Thinh Company Limited to implement.

Ha Long Commune was assigned forces to inspect and supervise the complete cessation of mineral exploitation activities in the Dun Mountain area of Tien Thinh Company Limited, ensuring security, order and social safety in the area.
In case of mineral exploitation activities that are not promptly prevented and thoroughly handled, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Long commune shall be responsible before the law and the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Trung district; handle according to authority or propose competent authorities to strictly handle violations (if any) according to the provisions of law.
Dun Mountain is about 45km north of Thanh Hoa city, located in Ha Long commune, Ha Trung district.
In April, during the quarrying process, the company discovered a cave inside Dun mountain.
Authorities determined that the cave is large in scale, with four interconnecting doors. This cave has many natural stalactites with interesting shapes, and an underground water stream flowing into the provincial relic of Ben Quan Lake.

In the cave floor area, there are also some ceramic household relics of historical date (archaeological traces) that need further research.
On September 30, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa coordinated with Ha Trung district to organize a scientific workshop "Evaluating the location, historical and cultural value, and regional connection of Dun mountain in the historical and cultural space of the national relic Trieu Tuong mausoleum and Nguyen dynasty relics in the area".
Experts and scientists say that not only does the cave at Dun Mountain have a beautiful stalactite system, it also has many prehistoric ceramic artifacts.
