Le Huu Sy enrolled at Auburn University (Alabama, USA)

Thesis with perfect score

Le Huu Sy was a student of the 2019 class of the Faculty of Information Technology at the International University (Ho Chi Minh City National University). He became a special student of the school when he successfully defended his graduation thesis with a perfect score of 100/100 from all council members in November 2023.

Not stopping there, with outstanding and impressive academic achievements, Sy was awarded a scholarship to study for a doctorate at Auburn University (Alabama, USA).

Previously, 2023 could be said to be a successful year for the former student of the Faculty of Information Technology. Not only did he have good academic results, Sy also published 4 scientific articles (including 2 Scopus articles and 2 articles in the scoring list of the State Council of Professors). These scientific publications were all made during the process of Sy researching his thesis.

Sharing about the thesis topic, Sy said that he has conducted research on segmenting multi-organ images of the lower abdomen in medical image data. The male student applies artificial intelligence to solve human health problems, specifically supporting experts and doctors in diagnosing medical images.

Before becoming a student at the International University, Le Huu Sy was a chemistry major at Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted ( Gia Lai ). Currently, Sy is studying a postgraduate program in computer science (informatics-biotechnology).

Talking about the doctoral scholarship, Sy shared: "I think the secret lies in the journey of studying at university. That place gives me the initiative in finding opportunities, starting with working together and receiving guidance from teachers. From there, I was given many opportunities to rub shoulders in the academic environment. It is also a place for me to practice perseverance, determined not to give up when pursuing research."

Sy recounted: "The learning process in the first years of university was not always smooth. In some semesters, I got a total score below 65. But with my efforts, I graduated with a good degree. More honorably, I was also the leader of a group that received an award at the national student scientific research competition - Eureka and was a member of the Bosch competition (only 22 groups nationwide were selected)." With all of his achievements today, Sy especially emphasized the importance of the teachers who guided him during his university years.

Talking about Auburn University, Sy said: "This is the first school I applied to and had the opportunity to study at. Auburn University is a top research university, especially in the field I am pursuing. This university is also in the list of the top 30 best public universities in the US."

Sy added that in the near future, he will focus on the biomedical program and practice his professional knowledge. In addition, he will participate in many research activities and learn from professors and seniors to continue to have truly quality research projects.
