From a 9-acre red basalt garden that was abandoned and full of weeds, about 20 years ago, Lan and her husband worked hard to renovate and develop the economy , escape poverty and nurture the desire to get rich. After many years of investing a lot of capital and effort, up to now, her family has established an economic model with a 500-tree rubber garden in operation, a 200-tree pepper garden in the construction phase, dozens of buffaloes, cows and hundreds of chickens and pigs.
The gardens are planned, arranged reasonably and orderly, creating convenience for care and harvesting. While tapping rubber latex, Ms. Lan shared about her entrepreneurial journey. Like many other young families in this area, after getting married, the couple made efforts to renovate the mixed garden and worked hard. At first, the couple renovated the entire garden to grow pepper. But after a while, the pepper plants got sick and prices dropped, so the family decided to convert more than half of the area to grow rubber trees.

Although still affected by the market and epidemics, the difficulties have gradually passed. “Up to now, my husband and I have been harvesting rubber trees twice a day, earning 1 million VND each time. The pepper garden is in the construction and harvesting stages. It is expected that next year we will be able to harvest and earn much higher income,” Lan shared.
To develop the model sustainably, Ms. Lan has actively participated in training courses, equipped with knowledge about cultivation, animal husbandry, and disease prevention. Along with that, she and her husband also regularly stay in the garden, actively monitor and take care of crops and livestock closely. Thanks to that, the model is less damaged by disease and gradually brings about efficiency.
Up to now, the multi-tree, multi-child model has brought her family an average income of about 300 million VND/year, after deducting all expenses. This stable source of income has helped her and her husband raise 3 children to study properly. Currently, all 3 children are grown up, have stable jobs, and some are married.
