Accordingly, immediately after receiving information from the people, from November 4th to now, the Search and Collection Team of Martyrs' Remains of Division 968 has deployed the work of surveying, searching and collecting remains in the Dong Toan area of Thuong Nghia village, Ba Ho mountain of Hoan Cat village and Dong Lung Tung of Bang Son village, Cam Nghia commune, Cam Lo district. Thereby, 4 martyrs' remains were collected.
The martyrs' remains were buried wrapped in military hammocks and parachutes and lay at a depth of nearly 1 meter. Many arm and leg bones, skulls, teeth, etc. and relics such as buttons and military belts still remained.
Notably, among the four martyrs' remains found, two were exhumed on December 13 and 14, both of which had accompanying relics, including two bottles of Penicillin containing information inside.
After sending for appraisal, the results showed the specific information inside the 2 Penicillin bottles: "Martyr Le Hai Luc, 1949, Hamlet 1b, Xuan Lai, Tho Xuan, Thanh Hoa , grave number 9 and Martyr Le Si Hung, 1951, Van Phu village, Quang Tho, Quang Xuong, Thanh Hoa, grave number 8".
Major Hoang Minh Man, Political Commissar of the 968 Division's Martyr's Remains Search and Collection Team, said that although the locations where the unit is conducting the search are all areas with difficult terrain, far from residential areas and frequent rainy weather, the search for the martyr's remains is facing many difficulties. However, in the coming time, the team will continue to expand the search area at Ba Ho Mountain and the foot of Dong Toan.
“Regarding the information obtained inside the two bottles of Penicillin, we have reported to the commander of Division 968 to ask for the opinion of Military Region 4 to take steps to search for the relatives of the martyrs. Currently, the families of the two martyrs Le Hai Luc and Le Si Hung have known the specific information. The collected remains are now being brought to the old community cultural and learning center of Bang Son village, Cam Nghia commune,” Major Man added.
