The first outbreak of dengue fever appeared in Ha Tinh

On July 18, information from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) Ha Tinh said that cases of dengue fever had appeared in Hai Thanh village, Song Tri ward. This was identified as the first outbreak of dengue fever in Ha Tinh province since the beginning of 2025.

Accordingly, the first patient was DCT (born in 2008, residing in Hai Thanh village, Song Tri ward). Previously, on July 14, the patient had symptoms of high fever above 38 degrees Celsius, accompanied by severe headache, loss of appetite; muscle pain, joint pain, pain in both eye sockets. The patient went to Ky Loi Medical Station for examination and prescription. On the morning of July 16, the patient was tested for dengue fever by medical staff and the result was positive for NS1Ag.

Immediately after receiving information about the dengue fever case, on the morning of July 18, leaders of the CDC Ha Tinh and specialized departments were directly present at the site, coordinating with the Hoanh Son Medical Center and local authorities to urgently deploy epidemic prevention and control measures to prevent the disease from spreading widely. At the same time, they investigated suspected dengue fever cases and performed rapid tests to confirm.

Through rapid testing, 2 more cases were found positive for dengue fever (NS1Ag) and 2 cases with fever showing suspected symptoms of the disease.

After conducting a field inspection in Hai Thanh village (Song Tri ward, Ha Tinh province), Director of CDC Ha Tinh Nguyen Chi Thanh requested the medical center and local authorities to step up propaganda on disease prevention and control measures on the loudspeaker system. At the same time, strengthen monitoring, request suspected cases to immediately go to medical facilities for timely monitoring and treatment; closely monitor households around the patient's house, organize campaigns, mobilize people to clean the environment, kill mosquito larvae to prevent dengue fever...

CDC Ha Tinh coordinated with Hoanh Son Medical Center to spray insecticide to kill adult mosquitoes for nearly 100 households within a radius of 200m from the patient's house.

CDC Ha Tinh also recommends that people proactively kill mosquitoes and larvae in their households, monitor their health, and go to medical facilities when they have suspicious symptoms.
