Agricultural, forestry and fishery exports aim for 100 billion USD
Vietnam currently ranks 5th in the world in terms of pig herd size, 6th in pork output, second in the world in waterfowl and leads Southeast Asia in industrial animal feed output.
Currently, agriculture is still an important pillar of the economy , in which science and technology contribute about 35% of added value, but the potential and room for development are still very large. Therefore, agricultural, forestry and fishery exports are aiming to reach 100 billion USD in the period 2026-2030.
A representative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment said that the livestock industry accounts for more than a quarter of the industry's proportion and is one of the important growth drivers.
In the first nine months of this year alone, agricultural, forestry and fishery exports reached 52.31 billion USD, of which the export value of livestock products alone reached 447.5 million USD (up 18.6% over the same period last year). The livestock industry is also creating livelihoods for 6.5 million farming households, contributing 25-27% of agricultural GDP.
Vietnam’s agricultural, forestry and fishery exports are showing many positive signs, with advantages from free trade agreements (FTAs) and strong recovery in global import demand. The target of 70 billion USD in 2025 will be an important stepping stone for the industry to reach the milestone of 100 billion USD in the 2026-2030 period.
