According to VASEP, in July, demand in four major markets recovered significantly: China and Hong Kong increased by 30%, the US increased by 14%, Japan increased by 11%, and the EU increased by 14%. In the first seven months of the year, exports to the US and China - Hong Kong both increased by 10%, reaching over 930 million USD, accounting for nearly 18% of Vietnam's total seafood export turnover. Exports to the EU also increased by 10%, reaching over 600 million USD, while exports to South Korea increased only slightly by 1%, reaching 426 million USD.
Regarding the frozen product segment, the US and EU are two promising markets in the second half of the year thanks to economic recovery, inflation and interest rate reduction, and demand stimulation. Frozen product exports to China have not yet made a breakthrough, but China is the number one destination for fresh seafood serving restaurants, hotels, and tourism. Therefore, fresh products such as lobsters, crabs, clams, and snails from Vietnam will continue to attract Chinese customers in the coming time.
