Upon receiving information that some people from Na Muong village, Pha Ven village cluster, Noong Het district, Xieng Khouang province (Lao PDR) went to Ta Do village, Muong Tip commune to contact for relief, the leaders of Muong Tip commune mobilized forces to assist and share relief goods with the people of the neighboring country.

On the morning of July 31, people in Ta Do village, Muong Tip commune, said that some people from Na Muong village, Pha Ven village cluster, Noong Het district, Xieng Khouang province of Laos risked their lives swimming across the fast-flowing Nam Mo river to Ta Do village to ask for help.

The people of Na Muong village said that the village of neighboring Laos was also flooded and suffered heavy damage. For more than 10 days, it has been isolated and the people are gradually falling into a state of shortage, so they risked their lives to cross the river and ask for help from friends and brothers living near the border.

Upon hearing the news, Comrade Vi Thi Quyen - Secretary of the Party Committee of Muong Tip commune went to meet the people of Na Muong village and mobilized forces to share and support relief goods sent by agencies and organizations to people affected by floods in Ta Do village.

More than 40 relief packages were given by the people and local authorities of Muong Tip commune to the people of Na Muong village right on the river bank and supported the people of Na Muong to transport them back to the village. Each package includes 10kg of rice, 2 boxes of instant noodles, 1 box of water and some other items such as clothes, sandals, etc.

Information that the two border villages of Vietnam and Laos were both damaged and separated by floods but were willing to "share food and clothes" with each other in times of hardship and disaster was posted by local people on social networking sites, and then received hundreds of comments, expressing their emotions about the sharing, solidarity, and brotherly friendship between the people and authorities on both sides of the Vietnam - Laos border.

Many comments also expressed their willingness to share and continue to support the people of Muong Tip and the border villages of our brotherly Laos. “In times of trouble, the four seas are home, love and sharing are always the most precious and sacred things” - one comment stated.

During the heavy rains from July 22 to 23, a flash flood occurred in Muong Tip commune, affecting 93 houses, of which 34 were completely collapsed (in Ta Do village alone, 68 households were affected, 11 houses were completely collapsed). The communication system and traffic routes were cut off and have not been restored yet. One primary school and one kindergarten were flooded.
