On October 4, information from the People's Committee of Dong Thap province said that from October 14 to October 15, the 2023 Red Lotus Land Marathon - Dong Thap will take place in Cao Lanh City. The Marathon is co-organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dong Thap.

According to the Organizing Committee, through the Marathon, the aim is to promote and raise people's awareness of physical exercise to improve stature, health and quality of life; continue to respond to the campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho" in the province for the period 2021 - 2030.
At the same time, promote tourism , especially green tourism; create conditions for tourists to visit, experience and explore the landscape in Dong Thap. Strengthen propaganda, tourism promotion and introduce the image of Dong Thap province to people across the country.
This year’s Marathon has 14 participating countries, such as: Germany, Singapore, Thailand, China, Japan, France, Denmark… with more than 5,000 athletes from provinces, cities, and industries across the country participating. In addition, the tournament also has about 1,000 children from 6 to 11 years old participating in the 800 meter run.
The 2023 Red Lotus Land Marathon - Dong Thap opens at 5:00 p.m. on October 14, at Van Mieu Square (Ward 1, Cao Lanh City, Dong Thap Province).
The race route for the distances of the race (5km, 10km, 21km) is expected to take place on October 15, on the roads of Cao Lanh City; the 42km distance will start at Phuong Nam Cultural Tourism Area (Lap Vo district) and finish in Cao Lanh City.
