On the morning of May 31, the National Press Awards Council held the final round of the 18th National Press Awards.
Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper Le Quoc Minh, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association , Chairman of the Award Council said that the National Press Award is a major event that attracts special attention from the press nationwide, and is the most prestigious award for journalistic works.
This year, the National Press Awards has entered its 18th season, accompanying the press life, becoming a truly beneficial professional activity, spreading widely in all levels of the association, in the press world and increasingly affirming its reputation as the most prestigious professional award for Vietnamese journalists.
According to the report of the Preliminary Council, the number of works submitted to the competition is still at the highest level in recent years.
The 73 members of the preliminary jury divided into 11 sub-committees worked with professionalism and a high sense of responsibility, strictly following the judging regulations, conducting appraisals, judging and submitting to the final jury a list of 165 works in 11 categories, selected from 1,905 entries.
Mr. Le Quoc Minh commented that the works closely followed major topics from politics , economics, culture, society, security, defense and aspects of life in 2023. The press promptly and clearly reflected major events and important issues of the country.
The press also reflects the work of Party building and rectification; inspection, supervision and control of power associated with the fight against corruption and negativity; the fight against wrongdoings and hostility; upholding the spirit of great national unity; historical topics, commemorating important events of the country, hot social issues...
Besides, the press also conveys examples of good people doing good deeds, "6 dares" cadres in difficult lands, ethnic minority teachers, great ambassadors... with noble, convincing and touching gestures.
The Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper requested that members of the Final Jury ensure objectivity, impartiality, and wisdom, and select the best and most deserving works for awards.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Chairman of the Preliminary Jury, presented the final report. The report showed that the entries closely followed major topics from politics, economics , culture, society, security, defense and all aspects of life.
The 18th National Press Awards - 2023 will be presented on the occasion of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, June 21 this year, on the occasion of the 99th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2024).
