Huong Pho Commune ( Ha Tinh ) has just coordinated with the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment to organize a ceremony to announce the decision to recognize two agarwood trees at Khoai Vac Temple as Vietnam Heritage Trees.

Khoai Vac Temple, formerly in Huong Thuy Commune, Huong Khe District, now Huong Pho Commune, was built from a small temple worshiping the mountain god during the Can Vuong uprising (1885-1896). This is both a place to worship the mountain god and a place to commemorate the heroes who protected the village. Located in the temple grounds are two ancient agarwood trees (also known as dó Trầm) bearing the sediments of time.
Mr. Ha Van Dan - Secretary of the Party Committee of Huong Pho commune informed: "The two ancient agarwood trees at Khoai Vac temple are estimated to be over 200 years old. Of which, tree number 1 has a circumference of 2.7m, a height of 8m, a canopy area of 9m, and has 2 main branches; tree number 2 has a circumference of 3.7m, a height of 11m, a canopy area of 11.5m, and 8 main branches, all of which are growing well. The two agarwood trees are not only significant in terms of biodiversity but also have great spiritual value, associated with the tradition and history of the village, and are respected and preserved by the people."

With an age of over 200 years, closely associated with the spiritual life, beliefs and history of the community, two agarwood trees were honored to be recognized as Vietnam Heritage Trees by the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment according to Decision 161/QD-HMTg dated August 11, 2025.
At the ceremony, Associate Professor, Doctor, Meritorious Teacher Tran Ngoc Hai - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Heritage Tree Council awarded the Heritage Tree Recognition Certificate to representatives of local authorities and the Management Board of Khoai Vac Temple, Huong Pho Commune.

"The recognition of two agarwood trees as Vietnam Heritage Trees is a meaningful event, contributing to raising awareness of protecting natural landscapes and conserving biodiversity; at the same time creating motivation for developing eco-tourism , arousing national pride, strengthening community solidarity in preserving and promoting the cultural and ecological heritage values of the homeland" - Secretary of the Party Committee of Huong Pho commune affirmed.
